ZRacing Power to the Portal not finishing at top

Wow i just pedaled my ■■■■ off, almost puked. Ended up 1st at the top of the climb and got the banner for finished route and thought I was done. There was no indication anywhere on my screen that the race was not over. Please do better.
The whole premise of the race series is to finish on a climb - per the event details.

Just completed my second race in this round. First one yesterday finished at the top of the climb as expected.

I knew today’s race would go up the climb, back down and finish at the Marina arch because I’d seen the earlier screenshot of the bacefook post.

But here’s what happened:

Get to the bottom of the climb with about 2.5km left on the route counter on the right of the screen under the map. The progress bar under the centre of the HUD at no time shows distance remaining but it does increase the further you go.

Go up and down the portal climb and when I come out there’s still 2.5km to go on the route counter. At some point between the end of the climb and near the Marina arch the route counter resets to 18km and stops counting. It’s now dead in the water. The progress bar on the centre of the HUD continues increasing.

I go under the Marina arch and there’s still a bit of distance left on the progress bar. At around the T intersection after the Marina arch the progress bar fills completely (still no finish line).

Turn left at the T intersection. About 300 metres past the intersection the race finishes. There is no blue finish line or banner nor any other indicator. I do see a line across the road but I’m not sure if that was just a graphics bug or meant to be the finish line.

A quick summary of the bugs:

  1. Finish line is about 300m after the left turn at the T intersection after the Marina arch.
  2. Route progress counter resets shortly after completing the climb and provides no indication of the distance to the finish line.
  3. Progress bar in the centre HUD fills after the Marina arch but before the finish line and so does not provide an accurate indicaiton to the finish line.
  4. Approximate distance of the race according to zwift feed was 22.3km

All in all it feels like a flashback to the first crit races on NeoKyo where there was no marked finish line either (it eventually got added).

From memory that line is where the route starts and finishes. There are a few other routes that use the same start line.

Let’s not kid ourself, FB is the official page. This is the abandon pet project. Think of this like repack ridge. It doesn’t do much but don’t need to delete it either.

It did not work perfectly in Off The MAAP. There were many reports of problems with stage 3.

Also something else weird is going on…

The race below, Cat D, first place was actually around 65th! He even made a comment on companion app wondering how he ended up first, so I believe that he wasn’t cheating. Weirdly he was already on the leaderboard when I finished, so either he didn’t do the climb portal or he finished on top.

Stage 1 GC has to be cancelled/void now imo. There seems to be multiple bugs here.

I would check the date first. Is it accurate/automatic?
Were you possibly running on April first in your time zone while others were still in March 31?

Edit: (Sorry. I think the ‘trash’ button was replaced with teleport button on screen)
As to banners coming up too quickly, you have the option to exit or trash your power-up.

Today I was sent straight on, while the rest of the peloton went left to the Portal. I think that when I should have continued, I would first cross the finish line. Which is not at the Marina arch, but a few hundred meters later.

Zwift should negate the stage and restore our racing scores to what they were before the race. They screwed many of us and should make it right asap.

When this was seen on Monday, it would have been much less painful to change the rest of the week’s events to a non-portal route and remove Monday from the GC.

Anyway since the events team mostly ignores the forum, if you want to be sure they see your suggestion you need to either post it in one of the Facebook groups like Zwift Racers, or contact the events team directly.

Has Zwift removed the Monday shorter (but initially correct) GC results? My son did it Monday & was in the GC but has disappeared now.

this one ZwiftPower - Login C look way off @James_Zwift

In my case, I finished the race in first place. Strangely, the last-placed rider in the field won by +1.40 minutes. I contacted support, but they don’t want to correct my race result. It’s really frustrating when you actually won the race. This makes Zwift look untrustworthy as an professional e-cycling platform if they are not even able to correct the results accordingly.

I raced it on Monday night and it finished at the top, again Wednesday night and some people finished the race at the top and the rest of us had that random finish. The C “winner” was 3 minutes faster than the A winner based on this weird glitch.

Unfortunately fixing one without also addressing the other wasn’t sufficient. Too late now though, this is all just hindsight unless the entire first week is removed from the GC.

The GC results from the shorter (and initially correct) route on Monday have been deleted. Those racers need to do it again but 99.9% will have no idea as Zwift hasn’t put out a warning message anywhere.

Yes but people are still having strange experiences in the event after Monday, as reported here and in many other places. This week is just a bust because climb portal events can’t be trusted right now. The problems with climb portal events were widely reported previously (here on the forum, on Facebook Zwift groups, and to Zwift support directly). The workarounds that James suggested are interesting from the perspective of my curiosity about the bugs but they don’t solve the problem for this week. I completely agree that the communication doesn’t fix it and the route change doesn’t either.

Yes. I raced Tuesday and was sent up the wrong climb and raced to an invisible finish. I came in first only to have results say I finished 25. Zwift needs to negate these races and restore our racing scores. Failure to do so tells us quite a bit about Zwift’s ability to clean up their messes.

Hello, I got DNF status on the event “Race: Stage 1: After Party” today 2025-04-03 at 21:13 (Eastern TZ), when I have clearly finished 10th. Usually, I immediately quit the race for a cooldown with robopacer, but this time, I did my cooldown on the way down back to the portal. I wonder if I did get out of the event in a way that recorded me as “Did not finish”, even if I did finish and clearly continued after…

Is it because I went back down, it considered as if I was back in the race ? As you can see in the last picture, I was now 11th while I’ve crossed the line at 10th.

It’s just a race, and it’s the first time I got DNF, so I don’t mind losing this race stats, but if I could know what I did wrong so I won’t do it again, TX!

I don’t know how to paste the event ID…
