White Screen after Zwift Update on Windows 10 [January 2022]

That is why it is a theory at this point.

My wife fixed her pc this morning by rebooting. I fixed mine by opening EDGE and disabling sync.

maybe it’s like one of those things where you convince yourself pressing the remote control button harder makes it work when in reality it is just that you kept pressing it that made it work

Hi Gerrie,

I got the white screen myself a few times and only a reboot did the trick. I tried it with the Edge Syncing and it seems to work. Will have an Eye on it and report back.

same issue here on windows. update performance in the last months is unacceptable. permanently difficulties to start the training. i will think over my membership.

Did you try to open Microsoft Edge and completed the Egde Setup. See my post above. It worked for 4 of my Zwift pc’c.

Seems to have done the trick on this side. No more white Screens so far. :+1:

Thanks Mike for circling back.

Hi Gerrie, I was really hopeful that your suggestion would work for me as I have tried everything from a full reinstall to updating drivers and temporarily turning off firewalls, but so far nothing has worked for me. I turned off the sync feature as per your instruction, but I still get the white screen. Zwift tech support has not yielded anything useful either. The other day I downloaded Rouvy and it seems to work fine… The only solution I can see right now is to cancel my Zwift account…

Doesn’t seem to help here. I have to admit I’m running it sandboxed, so a bit of a special case. The zwifthacks script is working slick for me though.

Nate - if nothing else works, might be worth trying the ZwiftHacks Zwift-Login script:

https://zwifthacks.com/zwift-login/

Very odd this. Not had any issues since the new launcher came out. Are you folks using OneDrive or any other cloud syncing software?

I can get it to work most of the time now outside the sandbox. In the sandbox it works based on the fact that the ZwiftHacks script is just a UI automation, but the display is all blank.

Zwift hacks could not even get past the White Screen.

@Dave_ZPCMR No Cloud sync. But just opening EDGE and going thru all the “First time use” stuff resolved the issue.

Just wondering if others may have cloud sync of user folders/settings which is messing with your potential solution.

Hey all - I’ve alerted the team, and we’re looking into this bug with the launcher app.

I took at look at some of your server logs for clues and I see Windows10 machines running a mix of Zwift launcher v1.0.52 and v1.1.0

  • Gerrie’s workaround should work for those of you using v1.1.0. It may not work if you’re still using v1.0.52
  • If you’d like to install v1.1.0 - the simplest way is to uninstall Zwift and reinstall using these instructions. You’ll want to follow these steps so that you don’t delete your custom workout and personal best files.
  • The installer will ask you to install Microsoft components that the launcher needs. Say yes, especially to the prompt for Webview2.

If that workaround is effective after you’ve updated to launcher v1.1.1 - please let us know. We will continue to look into the root causes in the meantime.

Why does Zwift feel like using Edge (or IE11 before) for the login process is a good idea? Can’t they create their own built in login screen instead of relying on a third party component they don’t control? I just don’t understand the logic here! Logging in and choosing a user shouldn’t require using the browser, it should be an integral part of the main program. I love Zwift but some UI/UX choices are just appalling…

i had this again today for the first time since the first time I got it - I opened edge and it still didn’t work, rebooting the PC did the trick though like last time it happened.
I’m all updated and on the latest version.

This is a wierd one. My wife’s pc had it this morning but simply opening edge and restarting Zwift worked.

Are you windows 11 or 10?

I had to update the firmware on my pedals that took longer than rebooting anyway.

Happened to me today too, but I still had the option to click " let’s go" as it was in plain blue text like a hyperlink.
