In the past couple of days, not only have I had repeated trouble logging in, but once in, nearby riders repeatedly appear and disappear, both visually and in the rider legend column. Any ideas how to fix?
If you are not seeing any other riders, this is an indication that you are not connected to the internet. So it sounds like you may need to check the stability of the internet signal coming to your Zwift device, whether via network cable or WiFi.
Thanks for your thoughts. My wife is Zwifting at the same time in the same room, 5 feet away from me, and connected to our wi-fi in exactly the same way, but she doesnât have the same issues. The wi-fi connections to my system all seem to be ok and the bluetooth and ANT connections are also ok.
There does appear to be a secondary (?) problem with the companion app as it routinely refuses to allow me to enter âgameâ on start up, or drops out during a session.
This does sound like a network problem. Both the riders disappearing and the companion failure to connect. These are not Bluetooth/ANT+ type problems. You could try rebooting all of your network equipment and the device youâre running the game on.
What device does Zwift run on for both you and your wife?
Hi @P_1952
Shuji at Zwift HQ here.
TLDR: try rebooting your cable or fiber modem / router / computer / trainer in that order.
As the others have wisely advised - other riders disappearing is a symptom of your internet connection being flaky. Unlike the smart folks here, I work for Zwift and can grab your game log from the server. I took the liberty of uploading a recent game log to zwiftalizer.com that you can see results from here which is a third party analytical tool that graphs whatâs happening with all the invisible wireless connections between your trainer and computer as well as the internet connections between your computer and Zwiftâs servers.
Those graphs show itâs likely that rebooting your router might help the disappearing riders symptom.
Rebooting your WiFi router will also help this symptom because the Companion app âseesâ the main app over WiFi.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed suggestions. I have now rebooted everything and just completed the Peak Performance route along with my wife and 247 other riders (riding with the Phoenix Riding club), all successfully. Most grateful to everyone.
