Virtual shifting option doesn't appear

After receiving my Zwift click, paired it via BT to my Zwift game(Windows PC) it is working as controls in game however, I’m not getting the virtual shifting option in game to enable it.

So far, I’ve done the following:

  • removed my ANT+ dongle from the PC
  • reconnected all devices via BT
  • removed my known devices + prefs file
  • reconnected all devices again via BT
  • rebooted my PC again

but still no virtual shifting option. What else should I do to start using virtual shifting?

With the Click V2, currently there will be no virtual shifting setting visible even if everything is OK. If virtual shifting is on, you should see a gear number displayed on the HUD and you should see shift style and gear range available in settings. If those things are not visible, then it’s broken.

The other thing to look at is the trainer - is it a model that supports virtual shifting, and is the firmware up to date? Which trainer do you have?

So I have a Tacx Neo 2T and thought it was supported but overlooked the fact that I needed to update to the latest firmware. Now that’s done, I do have everything working as expected. Thanks for your prompt reply!

So I’ve tried virtual shifting, didn’t like it that much but did like the Click buttons.

Since there is no toggle for virtual shifting anymore, I’ve modified the prefs file to disable virtual shifting and still be able to use the Click buttons in game. However, recent update automatically toggles virtual shifting even if I connect the Click buttons after event start.

Would it be possible to still use the click buttons without virtual shifting?

Same problem here with Wahoo Kickr Core V2 & Click V2. Before the last Zwift update I had toggled Virtual Shifting off for weeks without issues.

Now, all of a sudden Virtual Shifting is enabled again and there is no toggle on/off in the settings menu anymore. I had to ride without the Click because I really prefer analog shifting.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Edit: the problem is definitely in the Click V2.

I have both a Kickr Core V1 & V2 and a Zwift Play & Zwift Click V2. When pairing the Core V1 or V2 with Zwift play I can turn Virtual shifting on and off. But when I pair the Core V1 or V2 with the Click V2, there is no option to turn Virtual shifting off. I have emailed for support.

The only solution is to connect your trainer via ANT+ to Zwift as this protocol is not useable with virtual shifting and thus it doesn’t get enabled.

Thanks. I wouldn’t really call that a solution however, especially since everything worked correctly before the most recent update. And I am not planning on buying an ant+ dongle. But this could indeed be a solution for the people that like to use ant+ :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m likely missing the obvious, but to not pair virtual shifting, what if you simply don’t turn on your Click controllers?

…because the new Click 2 controllers are also used to navigate around the Zwift menus on my very nice laptop without sweating on the keyboard.

ahh, ok. Makes sense, though the CA has some of these but not steering of course.

Did you get a response from Zwift support? I have the same issue using Click2 as there is no option in the Settings/Preferences to turn on/off virtual shifting. If the Click2 is turned on, virtual shifting is also turned on. It would be useful to be able to turn off virtual shifting so that a cassette can be used as well as controlling Zwift with the Click2 controllers.
