Virtual shifting does not work with new Zwift Ride + KICKR Core

Yes. See picture

Hello Haziel, sorry but I don’t think you’ve read all the replies to this post…
I think we all know, at least a little, how the system works. As far as I’m concerned, everything was working fine until a week ago, and for no apparent reason.

I’m talking specifically about in the settings there is a subsection called Hardware and then an option to turn on off for virtual shifting

You’re right. Now that I think about it, I think I had this option when I set everything up, but now it’s gone. I’ll check.

Good point, the option has disappeared from the hardware menu

Yesterday, my support request was forwarded to the 2nd level support (or at least to some “higher team”). Let’s hope they will come up with some solutions or at least with some useful troubleshooting instructions instead of those basic help from the 1st level support. I havn’t heared from them yet, but I will keep you guys updated.

Last answer from technical support. Just received

Thanks you for sharing. I think we will have to be patient :frowning: I usualy prefer races and solo mode, just what’s actually not working

Any updates on this? Should I open a ticket too?

I see someone had the problem here where the option was gone under settings > preferences for virtual shifting:

Zwift dot com virtual-shifting-activation-gone/630596

I have no ant+ devices and everything is connected via Bluetooth.

Very unfortunate as the only modes I use needs shifting. And I pay for two separate accounts so my child can use this as well.

Bought this less than 90 days ago. May have to read on the return policy soon if this is going to be unusable.

Return policy is 30 days, and yes you should contact support ASAP

I think you should also open a ticket with the technical department. The more complaints they have, the sooner, I hope, they should find a solution to the problem. It’s very restrictive for me too because I mainly ride at events or in free mode.

New answer received yesterday from technical support…

I guess it’s good to see they’re not continuing to push the “reset this” or “restart that” as it’s clear the issue is not unique and there was some sort of breaking change made.

I did open a ticket myself.

Fingers crossed this is resolved soon.

I assume the “Gmplay-12042” code was added as a subhead to this topic by Zwift themselves, so I would guess you could reference this as a Bug ID number or whatnot when reaching out to support?

Hi @all,

I was also contacted from level 3 support named Rowdy last week and he was also asking me to check for “diverted pairing” like Luca and he also suggested to use the workout mode instead. But ERG workout mode is actually a no fix of the issue for me. Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to do one more screen capture demonstrating, that there is only Zwift connected to my trainer, but I will do it later this week.

Beside that I would like to encourage you to also write to the Zwift support. This may highlight the issue internally at Zwift and might increase the priority they are working on a fix. But I have to admit that it is time-consuming to follow the support instructions and prove that you did everything right.

I have the same issue. Uzing Zwift Ride with Wahoo Kickr Core and Samsung Galaxy TAB 9 FE. It all worked well until few weeks back and then it stopped. I tried it all (restarting, resetting, rebooting, unplugging, updating, spindown etc.). Nothing works, can only use Zwift with Training mode with ERG but can’t do free riding. I have been seeking help from Zwift since last week but they are only sending very basic responses (“update your firmware”, “enable virtual shifting in the hardware section” - of course I do not have the options as others in this thread).

So far the support from Zwift has been useless. I also got in touch with wahoo but this is not an hardware issue so they could not help.

hoping somebody has a way to fix this or find a workaround

Hey everyone - we’ve been in touch with our colleagues at Wahoo about this issue. We’d like you to try these steps:

  1. Uninstall and reinstall the Wahoo app.
  2. Toggle OFF the setting for ERG mode power smoothing.
  3. Toggle OFF the setting for ERG mode speed simulation, and save settings.
  4. Then - force-close the Wahoo app so your trainer is no longer paired to it. (iOS instructions) (Android instructions)
  5. Launch the Zwift app, pair as usual.

Please report back: does this bring back the resistance as you expect it, or no?

Hi Shuji, thanks for prioritizing our issue. I followed your steps but unfortunately it did not change anything. Still no resistance while shifting. I provided a screen capture of that test to your colleague Rowdy via support email.

I will give this a try shortly
