Zwift virtual shifting not working

I’m connected only via Bluetooth. My Wahoo is updated and compatible. Everything on pair screen shows connected. Virtual shifting isn’t even available to choose in settings. ONE time it auto connected and I got a pop up upon starting zwift giving me the tutorial and shifting showed in the top HUD and I was able to control it, BUT the resistance didn’t feel as though it changed at all when I shifted. Always felt the exact same. Since that one time I can’t get virtual shifting to show. Tried having companion app on, which I as trying to get away from with play controls but I’ve also turned it off. HELP!!!

Hi @Zach_Bostrom

Shuji at Zwift HQ here. You may want to identify which KICKR model you own here.

Your server logs show your trainer is using firmware version 4.3.0, which leads me to believe you have the KICKR v5, which does not support Virtual Shifting.

Hi Shuj
Just got a new kickr V6 with VS and play controllers. Having some issues when i start to pedal. The resistance is so high that I am unable to pedal. I then disconnected from my zwift session 2-3 times after the same resistance issue and then finally VS is enabled with no issues. This has happened 3 days in a row. Takes up to 10 mins of disconnecting and reconnecting my session before VS kicks in. Any ideas on what might be the problem ? The kickr is brand new.
Thank you

Have you updated the firmware or checked for an update on the wahoo app? Same for play controllers using the zwift companion app.?

Everything up to date Mike…happened again today…beginning to think there is a correlation between cold temperatures in the garage and this event. No issues with Kickr V4 last 5 years.

Hi @James_Smith2.

This is Haziel Zwift Support Specialist, I looked at your account and noticed some Bluetooth disconnections, things like nearby devices, or wireless network strength can impact connections between your Zwift Play and Zwift, I will share this article BLE and ANT+ Interference Troubleshooting Tips which covers some of the main reasons that might be causing this interference and their possible solutions.

Also please try to unpair the controllers, and pair back them one at a time, to allow each controller to fully pair, please make sure the battery is 100%, once you get fully paired you can go ahead and pair your trainer.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out at support@zwift.com.

Hi Haziel:
How many Ble connections do I have to play with ? I have different combinations to pair as I also have a set of assioma pedals. Also the option to use the companion app as a bridge never shows up either. Both are on the same network. I dropped my HR and the VS worked. I find the articles are too vague. Just need to know what is a ble connection?
Power resistance and cadence…connected together. Is this considered 1 ble connection ?
HR monitor Ble #2
Zwift play L and R Ble #3 ?
Cadence with power pedals ?
Power with pedals ?
Air pods ?
Thanks.
