No luck with getting Virtual Shifting to work. Tried everything

I have just got a new zwift ride with wahoo kickr.
Have set everything up. And virtual shifting is not working.
I have read all the forums and have tried everything using both my pho.e and my laptop. Using Bluetooth on both.
Handlebar headset is all.connected. can steer etc. All other buttons working.
In preferences Virtual Shifting does not show up to turn on or off.
Have updated firmware via companion app.
Wahoo has latest firmware.
Have tried turning everything off and unplugging.
Still no joy.
Very frustrating.
What else can I try?
Thank you

Does your Wahoo Kickr support virtual shifting? E.g. is it a Kickr v6, Kickr Move, or Kickr Core? Other Kickr models do not support virtual shifting.

Kickr Code. Came with the Zwift ride as a package.

Have you tried this ?

I don’t think that issue is about Virtual Shifting not showing up in Settings though as the OP here describes. It’s about resistance in VS not working properly

To the OP - what are you running Zwift on? Do you have an ANT+ dongle? If so, remove it, because you might be accidentally connecting the trainer over ANT+ and that will stop the VS working.

What are the ā€œeverythingā€ steps you tried? It helps a lot if we don’t have to guess, since you may not have tried everything.

Not my area of expertise but at least two people in that thread had lost the virtual shifting option in Preferences and then had everything working after changing wheel size.

IIRC the Zwift Ride controls do not offer a setting for virtual shifting because it’s always on. But the wheel size change can help if the gear display is visible but resistance does not change when shifting, because the trainer gets a wheel size of null and shifting multiplies it by some value, which results in nothing.

Hey Folks,

This is Alejandra from Zwift.

Welcome to our forums @Richard_Mergler

Thank you, everyone, for all the advice you’ve shared regarding the virtual Shifting not functioning. Your insights are truly appreciated!

@Richard_Mergler I’ve been following your case through email. Please take your time to review the information I’ve shared. If you encounter any issues aside from the testing, don’t hesitate to respond to that email.

Have a nice day all!

Hi Alejandra
Thanks for your emails.
I have tried everything you have suggested and still no luck.
I can connect ok to the trainer and the Zwift App but have no virtual.shifting. All the other controls on the handle bar setup work fine.
But without the virtual shifting it is useless as I need gears and not just a fixed gear.
I have turned all other devices in the room off and have god.imyerent connection.
It’s just the Bluetooth for the virtual shifting. But the Bluetooth works better my device both phone and laptop and the wahoo kickr core and between my devices and the Zwift Ride handle bars.
I have also made sure the wheel size in the wahoo app is at 19 as other have suggested.
Have tried turning everything ok and unplugging etc.
And all.firmware is up to date on kickr core and Zwift and ZC.
Help!!
Thanks
Richard

Success! As a last resort I clocked on the resistance button on the paired devices.sceen as well as the power button and it now works. Weird!
Thanks again

Richard

Good that it finally works now.

It is expected though - you have to pair the trainer as resistance device to control the trainer resistance at all. If the trainer is only paired as power source then Zwift will only read the reported power but never send a command to change the resistance.
Anyhow, now that youā€˜ve got it working - Ride On!

Thanks. This information is not anywhere in the instructions or in the notes.
Be good to publish this information so it is obvious.
Thanks
