I am a 2 year rider. After 6 months I bought my first set of controllers. Absolutely thrilled with them. A few months in, when I had to move my bike and detached the power cord from the units, the end of one of the connectors came apart, leaving bare wires and no way to reconnect. Bummer. Didn’t complain but ordered another set. This morning I powered up, everything looks just great, power to both units and my HUD is normal. But left controller is totally dead, even though it has power. Disassembled, rebooted, tried everything. Zip. Still dead although it pairs and has power. This is crap. I am retired and cannot afford to be replacing these controllers every year. Sad thing is, I have become used to them and the idea of going back to manual shifting is less than appealing. So I’m going to find the $$$ and try yet again. But hear me Zwift, I doubt I am the only one with failure issues and it is a huge negative.
Which controllers do you have: the Play or the Click? (I’m guessing the Play, since you referred to a cord, but wanted to confirm.) And have you searched the Forum for other people who have had issues, and if/how those were resolved?
Zwift play. Had a quick look around the forum for similar issues but did not see much and found no answers. Will be doing a more thorough search later.
you should just work with support and see if they will replace them, there are a lot of posts about play controllers failing (maybe one of the reasons they stopped making them?) and most of the time support will send you a replacement. email support@zwift.com
Thanks Mike. So I did some rummaging through the forum and found that (a) making sure I had the most recent Zwift play firmware update and (b) doing a hard reset on the left controller, actually fixed the problem. Happy rider but the thing is, I am habitually very careful about updates to all of my software, including Zwift, ZC etc. and I can’t recall ever seeing a firmware update notice for the controllers. Dodged a bullet and I’m content with that for now.
