Unable to perform Spindown Calibration in Zwift

I’ve got a kickr core and have been using it for about a year fine, however after the latest Zwift update I can’t calibrate it using the Zwift app. When I go on to the calibration setting it usually lets you pedal to a certain speed and then asks you to stop pedalling, however now it just says stop pedalling immediately and times out. Now the calibration is totally. How do I fix it?

Don’t calibrate via Zwift. It’s recommended to always calibrate via your trainer manufacturer’s app.

However, if you’re on the latest firmware then your Kickr Core will auto-calibrate anyway, so manual calibration will be unnecessary. Sounds like maybe you’re not on the latest firmware?

Thanks- yea I downloaded the latest firmware update after having the issue but still no change.
I always thought it was best to do a spin down calibration every week or two

Hi, i am having the same issue after the latest update! Calibrated using Elite app on my Direto and then with the wahoo app on the Kickr and neither will spin down on zwift app. Also have no resistance in game and ERG mode isnt working either! A zwift ambassador escalated my issue to the zwift team so hopefully they will come back to me with some help.

Hi @Ashley_Briggs and @Bethany_Brooksbank, welcome to the forums!
I’m Fernanda, from Zwift.

I can see that you are experiencing issues with calibrating your trainers, let me share with you that we recommend performing calibrations on the manufacturer’s app, in the case of Ashley can follow these steps for calibrating via Wahoo, and in the case of Bethany can follow these steps for calibration via ELITE.

Also, I want you to know that I located the tickets that you opened with our email team, and I already moved forward and answered you via email with more recommendations to ensure an accurate ride with your trainers!

Keep an eye on your inbox.

Hi all,

Our team is aware this is a known issue impacting the 1.74.2 game release and is working on a fix as quickly as possible. I’ll follow up here and with those that have contacted our Community Support team already as soon as the fix is available in an upcoming release.

It would also be really helpful to users to put a message in the spindown page telling people to prefer the manufacturer’s app for spindowns, since that’s the advice that all manufacturers give and it’s also the advice that Zwift staff give verbally

Agreed, and we do call it out in our Support Article, however we’ve seen several Zwifters report the calibration working in the manufacturer’s app, but then having resistance issues in Zwift leading them to try Zwift’s calibration process.

Is this sorta saying that 1.75 doesn’t have the fix either, which is rolling out now?

Hi John,

Yes our team is still actively working on the fix so it is not included in 1.75. If you are unable to Zwift because of this bug please let me know so that I can grant you 1 month of free Zwift.

Hello, I can’t open the link to the page Calibration of the Elite Direto. Can you send it to me or re-list it? I also can’t calibrate in Zwift.

Hi, when will this be fixed? My elite is still not working correctly on zwift and neither is my partners wahoo kickr core. We cannot use the spin down option on zwift it goes straight to the last step and says stop pedalling and then “time out”. Both calibrated using manufacturers app but riding in game still feels strange. Resistance is off when free riding (i tried again today with pace partner) however on work outs with ERG mode turned off it seems to be ok. Considering how expensive zwift is, this should have been fixed sooner?!

@Ashley_Briggs @Bethany_Brooksbank @Wannie @Jarko_S_KfK
The fix for this is coming in the upcoming release which is scheduled for next week. I’ll be crediting 1 month of Zwift to each of you because of the impact this bug has caused on your ability to Zwift.

This morning, at 6:30 am Beijing time on October 9th, I updated my zwit, but it lost resistance and cannot be calibrated. May I ask when it can be repaired? This is the exercise I must do every morning. I feel very frustrated.

Does your trainer manufacturer provide an app to calibrate it? If so, that is the recommended way to calibrate it, always.

I can ride and calibrate on the software provided by my cycling equipment manufacturer, but as long as I connect to the zwit, I will lose resistance and cannot train

That problem doesn’t sound like it’s related to calibration. Calibration is saved to the trainer so if you calibrate it in the manufacturer app, there is no need to calibrate it again in Zwift. If the manufacturer’s app allows you to do a test ride (not just calibration) I would do that and see if you can replicate the problem. If it fails there as well then contact the trainer manufacturer. If it doesn’t then you could talk to Zwift support or post here on the forum with details about all of your equipment, what you run the game on, how you pair the trainer, etc.

After I connected to the zwift for cycling and started training, there was no resistance. Even when I turned on the ERG mode, it didn’t work. I tried to calibrate, but when I clicked start, the fourth step was displayed directly, and it ultimately failed. I have already calibrated it in the software provided by my manufacturing application provider. And I consulted with my device manufacturer, who asked me to contact the Zwift software personnel. The Zwift software has a malfunction.

My question is which problem is affecting ERG mode. I doubt it’s the calibration bug we are talking about in this topic. It’s probably something else, but if you contact Zwift support they can work through it with you. Or you can post detailed information about your setup and we can discuss it here, but the support team has access to all of that data and they are responsible for helping you if you contact them.

At first, after updating Zwitf for course training, there was no resistance, and then I tried to turn on ERG, but it didn’t work. In the end, I attempted to work in Zwitf but failed consistently. Later, I consulted with the equipment manufacturer and used their software for calibration and cycling, but there was resistance. Finally, I returned to the Zwitf software for training, but there was still no resistance
