Struggling to get Click 2 to pair with Zwift. New equipment but I did have it working 6 days ago. Wahoo Kickr Core 2 with zwift hub connecting via Wifi. Companion installed. Everything on the same Wifi. Companion → Equipment, both click 2 controllers on and flashing blue → Click2 and zwift ready icons changes grey to blue and state connected, LEDs solid blue. As soon as I leave the companion equipment screen the Click LEDs start flashing blue again. Start Zwift (1.100 which is new since the click controllers worked) and the pairing screen finds the Kickr Core2 components. My heart monitor which is bridged doesn’t automatically connect, but pressing the search for HR it is present and clicking the radio button it appears to connect (I see HR but the screen continues to report “connecting”). The Click2 controllers do not connect and pressing search they never are found and the companion app now says “pairing devices” forever. The click 2 controller LEDs eventually timeout. Click2 devices are current v1.1. As I have only had this equipment a couple weeks I recognize I may be doing something wrong procedurally but I did have it working earlier this week. I did not notice the click LEDs going from solid (paired to companion app) to flashing by simply exiting the equipment menu in companion and before Zwift program was even loaded. Thanks for any insight.
You only need to go into the Equipment menu in Companion to update the Click firmware. You don’t pair the Click from there.
Ok, maybe the wrong choice of words. The click2 has paired with my phone previously in companion. If I open companion, the equipment icon is grey, I go into the equipment menu and the Icons for Zwift Ready and Click2 are present but grey initial and then appear to connect icons now blue and I can see the device information. I return to the main menu and now the equipment menu item is now orange. I start Zwift and the equipment menu item turns back grey, the game menu item turns orange (This may all be normal behavior, I don’t know). In Zwift device connection screen, the Trainer components all connect, My heart monitor which is bridged doen’t connect automatically but it is listed when searched and clicking the radio button seems to connect (HR displayed but the device screen for HR monitor says “connecting”. The primary problem though is Zwift never finds the click 2 controller any longer. It just searches and searches until the click2 LEDs stop flashing blue and Zwift gives up looking for a steering controller device. (Zwift v1.100, Click2 v 1.10). Kickr Core2 status lights are slow flash white (WiFi) and orange once Zwift starts. A week ago this all worked fine for the couple days I’ve had it. Thanks for your reply.
What device are you running Zwift on - is it Apple TV?
PC Windows 11Pro. I think I may have figured out the problem, or at least a work around. In the Zwift device pairing screen, it defaults to Bluetooth. I have never intentionally changed that. With my prior trainer I connected with Ant+ with frequent dropped connections. Tonight, after failing to connect Click2 again, I tried switching to “Pair through Phone”. The trainer says it is still connected via Wifi but switching that button to use the phone as a bridge allowed Click2 to work. I don’t know if that is the way its supposed to be set. If it written down somewhere I missed it but that seems to work for me tonight. Thanks for your attention.
ANT+ can never work with virtual shifting so step 1 is to remove that when testing. If you have poor Bluetooth reliability in a PC you should try a dongle like the TP-Link UB500
Thanks. Yes I had removed the Ant+ Dongle but will try a Bluetooth dongle on the PC.
Any dongle with the Realtek RTL8761B chipset should be fine. The easy way is:
- Unpair any devices connected to Windows Bluetooth (eg, keyboards, mice, headphones, etc)
- Find the internal Bluetooth adapter in Windows Device Manager, right-click on it and select Disable
- Insert the USB dongle; drivers should install automatically
Thanks will do that. I realized after you said this that I am running off an old Logitech dongle that is running both my mouse and keyboard. Never really thought about device connection limits causing that issue. New dongle on teh way. Appreciate the reinstall instrux for the new dongle as well.
