Treadmill and bike detecting but avatar won't move

My Zwift basically stopped moving last week when I went to try running on my treadmill and today I wanted to cycle on my Stages SB20 bike and that’s no longer working either.

In both run and ride my zwift app is detecting my footpod (running) and bike and my heart monitor no problem but then when I start the avatar doesn’t move. I’ve tried this on my zwift account on both my andoid phone and iphone and the problem is the same. Batteries/bluetooth etc all working fine.

Any ideas as this suggests the issue is somewhere within zwift but I can’t find any reason it would just stop working completely.

Cheers

I would first suggest making sure you aren’t logged into both devices (android and iphone) at the same time. You need to log out completely of each device and force close them, not just minimize and keep it running in the background.

I’ve tried force closing them but you can’t seem to just log out of the app on iOS but it’s definitely not running in more than one place. I have until last week had no issue with both phones being in close proximity though

Hi @James_Young6

Welcome to the forums. This is Haziel from Zwift. I’m glad you shared your concern about the avatar not moving here. I understand how this impacts you.

To help resolve this, I suggest that after you pair your speed sensor on the pairing screen, you select your trainer from the next menu.

Additionally, you might find it helpful to use the Zwift Companion App as a Bridge. This can create a more stable connection, so please ensure the app is updated.

It’s also important to check that your trainer is updated and calibrated according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Finally, I recommend doing a test ride using your trainer’s manufacturer app to help identify the issue.

Please try these steps, and if you have any more questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thanks Haziel,
I’ve tried reconnecting and all my sensors are detected and selected and my apps are all up to date.

Note that I’m not just referring to my avatar not working on a bike, it’s also not working on my treadmill which uses a footpod instead of the bike crank sensor but again that’s also being detected without issue.

Everything is being detected on multiple devices when I try so it doesn’t seem to be an issue with the hardware on the treadmill, bike or sensors.

Hello from Belgium!

I use a Wahoo kikr and 2 days ago my avatar stopped moving after 20km.

Since then Zwift detects all the sensors and I see my power + Rpm but the avatar doesn’t move. I have tried everything. Check my internet connexion, tested on Mac, IPhone and Microsoft without success.

Why am I stuck when I can see all sensors connected?

I have been using Zwift for 5 years and cannot fine any solution.

Please help!

Thanks .

Ben

Have you tried the wahoo app? Perhaps the trainer is not working any longer?

So mine has just started working again since this thread. Swapped the battery in my bike trainer crank so I guess despite it being a relatively new battery and showing good battery life this had some impact and probably worth doing if you haven’t already @Benoit_Warnotte

Doesn’t explain why my treadmill started working again though as I didn’t do anything with that or the footpod sensor there.

Hi Mike, good idea thanks!
I have jus tried and it comes that everything works on Wahoo. Speed, power, RPM and tilt percentage.
I think that it could be a bug from the app.
Or maybe something linked to internet but everything looks fine on this side.
Kind Regards,
Ben

Hi James,
Thanks for your advise but as I’m using the Wahoo Kikr bike i do not need any battery.
Kind regards,
Ben

Great, next try closing all apps on all other devices (especially the iphone, dont just minimize to the background, you need to exit the app and trash the ride so it closes the session on the zwift servers). Make sure all devices are off so they arent trying to look for the kickr bike signal. Then turn on your primary device that you want to use and try connecting the bike.

I closed all apps and re-install Zwift but problem remain the same. I also disconnected the kikr bike and re-connected it but nothing changed.
I don’t know if it can come from last zwift update or when I linked Companion to Wahoo for outside rides. But I cancelled it as well and tried without it. I will also explain the problem to my retailer and have sent a mail to Zwift customer service. Pfff I don’t understand it does not make sense.
Thanks Anyway Guys
Ben

Two other things I know can cause this:

  1. Expired membership. Check here: https://www.zwift.com/billing/membership

  2. Pairing controls that support braking, and the brakes are stuck on. If that applies to your situation, go to Zwift settings and move Braking Sensitivity all the way to the left to disable brakes.

Hi Paul, this is it!
Problem with Zwift Play. I just start Zwift without it and my avatar moves.
Probably link to the brakes.
I will see how I can fix that.
Thank you very much for your support.

You may need to get the controls replaced, but if you move Braking Sensitivity all the way to the left, you can ride with it like that.

Hi,
Yes I will try to change Sensibilty and if required buy new ones.
Thank you again
