The remote hosting service forcibly terminated the connection

I have a very strange connection problem:
Zwift stopped working on my laptop (Windows 10, 64B). It displays the error message “The underlying connection was closed. Unable to read data from the transport connection: The remote host forcibly closed an existing connection.”
The error occurs both over Wi-Fi and over a wired connection.
However, everything works fine on my desktop computer on the same network.
I tried completely uninstalling everything related to Zwift and reinstalling it, but it didn’t help.
And when I took the laptop to work, everything worked fine.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

P.S. I even replaced the router at home with a different one, but the error persists.

Do you have a VPN on the laptop?

I have not seen this error previously, but there are quite a few past discussions of it here on the forum that you can search for. It sounds like it may be an SSL error and to summarize the solutions I saw, they are:

  1. The PC’s clock may be off and correcting that could help
  2. Or do a clean reinstall of Windows

No VPN installed. Again, I took the same laptop to work and everything worked fine there via Wi-Fi. But at home, the same error persists.
