I think Tacx should post its Neo 2 users a cadence sensor free of charge,
whilst it sorts it problems out.
It is really disappointing to have spent that much money on a piece of
equipment that is not really ready for launch. Embarrassing that the firmware
upgrades don’t work and even more embarrassing that the Neo 2 is not really
new, its just a upgrade to the Neo 1. All the problems should have been ironed
out long ago.
Assuming that the problem is with Tacx.
Who knows?
New Neo2 out of the box, firmware updated from 0.0 to 0.18, trainer connected directly to AppleTV via BLE. Cadence seems to be OK and reliable (also have Wahoo cadence sensor connected to Garmin Edge and both devices show the same cadence). Thus no cadence problem here … knocking on wood
0.0.18 has indeed no BL issues on Zwift, but does not work for my in any other apps via ANT+
I see no cadence on Tacx Trainer App neither ANT+ nor BT, nor in Tacx Utility app under device testing dashboards (BT), nor in VirtuGo nor in RoadGrandTour [last 2 being only ANT+ enabled]
downgrading to 0.0.15 does not restore cadence for the ANT+
I am ok with Zwift only rides for now, but my tacx neo 2 is now with the 0.0.18 a BT only Zwift only trainer!
I got my replacement NEO2 direct from TACX yesterday, pre-loaded with v0.0.18. Just completed a ride on Zwift and cadence was faultless throughout. Looks like I had a faulty trainer.
Here is the solution, how to improve the cadence on Zwift. I played around a little bit and found out that there is a tool on the internet called https://zwiftalizer.com There you can check how good your ANT+ or BLE connection is.
Connect Wahoo sensor with ANT+ not over BLE!! The response time is over ANT much faster. About 0,5seconds
Connect your Tacx with ANT+
Drive an hour and check your logfile with zwiftalizer. In my case I have no drops, the signal strength is about 4 so very good.
If everything is ok go back and switch back to BLE connection. You will notice, that connection over BLE is much slower especially the cadence. In some training plans there are areas where you have ramp up your cadence for 10seconds and make 400Watt or so. Normally you have no chance because it takes about 10-20 seconds to stabilize the cadence. Now it is easy going. You spin faster - cadence goes in 0,5s faster. Now it is a perfect setup.
Hi
can you tell me if there is a way to find what Firmware version
a Tacx Neo 2 has without getting involved in a Firmware update?
I am happy with my Neo straight out of the box. I’m using Garmin
cadence sensor and making sure the Neo connects via Ant+.
No problems, just wanted to check.
Also do I need to connect with the Tacx app? Am I missing out on
anything? Warranty? Left/Right balance? etc.
Troy, you can check the FW version with the Android/iOS app without having to upgrade the FW.
You are happy that you don´t have any problems, so enjoy it.
Tacx app - only L/R power balance is good, if you analyse any data, you don´t miss anything else without this app.
Same problem also Erg mode does not turn off after you complete a workout on zwift if you go straight to free ride without turning flux 2 off and on again ! Very odd
