I have been using Zwift on Apple TV for many years without trouble, but now my Tacx Bike Smart loses connection all the time. I have latest firmware on the bike, on the app. I also tried Zwifting on my old Samsung tablet, which worked perfectly! What can be wrong? Help!!
Do you force quit the Zwift app on Apple TV? Are you pairing via the Companion app or directly to the Apple TV?
I force quit the app and usually pair directly to the Apple TV. I have the same problem pairing via Companion…
Hmm that is odd. Which Apple TV model is it? Not the HD 4th gen I hope.
Unfortunately with Apple TV you are pretty helpless to troubleshoot anything on your own without talking to support. I would expect any Bluetooth problems with the Apple TV device to be circumvented by pairing through the phone, though depending on exactly what the phone is you might run into a separate set of problems.
Hi @Olav_Dallas, welcome back to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.
I checked your logs today and saw multiple BLE disconnect errors from the NEO Bike Smart, plus 6 BLE read errors. The last RSSI was around ‑62, which isn’t strong; it means the bike is detected, but the signal is weak and prone to interference, as if it isn’t close enough. That explains the drops.
Here’s the guide worth checking to narrow down this behavior: BLE and ANT+ Interference Troubleshooting Tips.
If you need further help, feel free to reach out to us at support@zwift.com.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Ride On.
Hi
Thanks for checking my logs!
But the bike is 1 meter away from the AppleTV, and this has worked so well for years. So what can the reason be for the signal to become so low? Are the any devices that could interfere in the same bandwidth? We have recently changes internet provider in the building, and are using two new mesh routers. Could this effect BT signals? Again, the old Samsung tablet works just fine with the bike
Best Regards Olav

Yes. Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz WiFi uses the same frequency band. If the mesh access points are transmitting on 2.4 GHz that can cause interference.
I’ve seen a number of posts over the years indicating that mesh networks are more prone to connection issues.
Hi again, thanks for all replies. I think I might have solvedvthe issue now, lets see in a couple of days:) I moved the access point around a bit to get my Apple TV to use the 5 GHz band, but this did not help. I read somewhere that the BT radio in the Apple TV 4K gen2 is rather weak, and because all of my neighbours also just had new mesh routers I guess the 2.4 GHz band is rather cooked anyway. I also did a factory reset of the ATV, with no success. Final solution was to remove the ATV from the backside of the TV and place it visible for the smart bike. After this no dropouts. Can you (Francisco) see from the logs if there was a significant change in BT signal from 21:30 CET today? Thanks again
If your Apple TV ever prefers 2.4GHz then your WiFi system is not good. Too far away or too much interference, too many walls, etc. On most routers you can split the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands into two separate networks, give a different network name to 2.4GHz and never connect the Apple TV device to it. If it doesn’t work well on 5GHz when it has no access to the 2.4GHz band, then you need to make more changes to the WiFi infrastructure so signal is better.
Also change the WiFi channels from the default. Download a WiFi Analyzer and choose channel(s) that are empty. I am 150-500 feet from my neighbors and I can pick up all their signals. Used to interfere with my wireless music system.
