Small effort and speed on 0% gradients

Good day!

My name is Dmitry and I have some trouble to use my fitness bike (exercise bike). I’ from Russia therefore name of bike is «Oxygen Fitness Cardio concept 5», in another counties I met it with name «FitBike Ride 5 iPlus» or something like that (see pictures below).

So instruction for my fitbike contains refer that it can be connected to Zwift apps. Confirm, I without any problem connect to my fitbike by power source «Concept_5-200» together with buit-in resistance and cadence. Also I use external HRC by Garmin, it also connect with no issues. All devices connect throught Zwift companion. I use Zwift some time, my account has been paid - so it should not cause a problem.

The problem is that on flat relief with zero or small gradients power is not enough. It means, for example, gradient is 0%, my cadence may be 120-130 and little bit more (it is not optimal, very huge), but resistance is not enough. My speed is too small. I expect that gear should be reduced, next step is that power is growing, speed is growing so that cadence is 80-90 (or something like this). Also please note that I see 0,7 w\kg on dsiplay and even huge cadence cannot increase it. So all riders outride me. I can battle only on some gradient staring from ~4-5% (see below). On fitbike control panelle is disabled at all, I cannot change something on that.

I tried to up FTP till to 500, reduce height, weight, change date of birhday and so on (My settings)… I able to achieve 1,0 w\kg on 0% gradient using that chanages. (Normally I have 181H-93W-186HR-50YO-192FTP-measured by Zwift in first ride)
However I have to inform that resistance works becuase on gradient +4-8% it becomes difficulе, +9-12% very difficult, but I can outride another riders. Drop is still no effort, very simple and all riders outdrive me.

Also I tried to read instruction and

  1. I have not found “Trainer Difficulty” options. It is possible fitbike do not support it or it was removed in latest versions of Zwift.
  2. As soon as I understood ERG and SIM mode is not available in my fitbike, but in any case they can use only on workout and freerides.
  3. I have found that can adjust the intensity using incline blocks but only in FTP test and poossible in all workouts (still have not tried it).

Could you help me to fix this issue on 0% gradients? suggest something? Teach how to use fitbike with Zwift?

  • may be there is some workaround?
  • as an idea I have very simple virtual bike \ usual whell in my garage and I need to buy new once?
  • or may be I need some external Power Meter?
  • May be I have to ride a lot of kilometers to reduce my expirence, speed and so on?

Do not understand it is an issue or need to live as is (behavior by default).

Thanks in advance, Dmitry.

Hello Dmitry,

It sounds like your “bike” has a very low base resistance. I would suspect that this exercise bike doesn’t have an actual power meter and is more comparable to a “dumb trainer” with a speed sensor and uses a power curve to estimate watts on Zwift.

What might help is using the QZ app from @Roberto_Viola to increase base resistance. Roberto can help get you going.

Contact me in PM and I will help you!

@Roberto_Viola Hmmmm… I was looking for PM and how to send personal message a lot of time :frowning:
Found that topic where Steve understand to Dan how to do it (also cannot insert links)

I’m also not too young may be it is cause why I still doesn’t see this link : ( and do not understand how to send PN. Pic from my cell below.

p.s. I got basic badge that grantetd to send PM messages
If it possible I can provide link to my facebook or telegram account if you use it.

I think new forum users don’t get the PM feature, probably as a counter measure against spammers who show up here. Mods have to kill spam accounts pretty regularly.

thank you!

Think so! but it doesn’t matter anymore, belive I have met Roberto
