Scotland Map Release [2023]

Make sure you have the latest version of ZCA.

Someone’s gonna come a cropper on that sticky out bit!

Thanks James. Companion app is yup to date. I’m on Apple TV and I haven’t received the latest update yet. 1.33.2 so may be that. I’ll be jumping on again tomorrow so will see if it’s any different. BTW… Scotland map is great

It should be with you today/Monday - we submitted the update to Apple on Tuesday and it’s just taking a bit of time sadly.

I fully expect my avatar to run through that when I get to run around the Scotland map :joy:

Love the Rolling Highlands race course (raced it at the front of a TdZ stage last night). So freaking hard and creating great race dynamics even with a huge blob at the front.

Well done, Zwift team. (Oh, and the moody lead-in with will-o’-the-wisps was a great touch, though I was breathing a little too hard to enjoy it )

EDIT: Also, super cheeky putting such a steep climb before the KOM. Loved it.

At minimum why not allow all of the micro worlds to have a link to each other one a proper sized world that doesn’t get redundant or boring on rides over 30 minutes?

1 step beyond, it’s not even the full or majority of the UCI courses. With Richmond being an exception that I can think of, most UCI course have a nice lead-in and then exciting finishing laps of a short-medium circuit. Sadly Zwift has only decided to focus on the short circuits instead of fully utilizing the course, the IRL roads/world or their imagination to develop these. They get the circuit out and move on to the next micro world instead of making them what they could be as we have discussed in a handful of other spots.

Loved the course. Looking forward to racing on it. Great work, Zwift team.

A great shout-out to the Zwift team! Awesome, a masterpiece. Loving it!
Was lucky to climb Sgurr Summit North at night - Aurora & Constellations - pretty cool!

Auto-generated activity titles seem to be missing “Scotland” in the end. At least I have a bunch of activities titled “Zwift - Group Ride: Tour de Zwift 2023 | Stage 8 | Ride, Long on Rolling Highlands in ” (etc., including mine) in my feed…

Yeah - I assumed that’s just because it’s not “properly” available yet. For instance, you can’t choose Scotland for a workout and it’s not yet on the World calendar rotation. Might be fixed by Monday for the Ride Scotland series?
@James_Zwift ??

I’ve heard March 8 is the date for that

Events are already on the Companion App - starting Monday 6th at 00:05.

Still, event only, probably not for workouts or clubs until March 8 as far as I know. Some other event only routes are not available for clubs or workouts despite being published ages ago.

I’ve been pushing for this to be added since we got back from France in 2018. Such an undervalued road with some insane switchbacks at the bottom. Not as respected but I honestly prefer this rode over the busy highway that we know as Alpe d’huez.

Gotta say, love the new map. A negative grade sprint too! #heart

The only strangeness is coming back out of Glasgow. I wanted to leave the city and head to the…curvy ribbon part. The Sgurururssusur part. But I was going clockwise around Glasgow, and I couldn’t leave Glasgow and then make an immediate right turn. I had to go past the exit to the city, go back a bit up that first street under the walkway, U-turn, and then hit the arrow to make a right turn. A little awkward. But it’s a 4 way intersection, kind of, I could see why directions would be hard to do there.

Becomes self fulfilling though doesn’t it. Lots of small worlds bring the average down so they build worlds based on that average and so only ever build worlds that are shorter.

I know geographically it’d be very wrong but adding this to France (the opposite side to venn top) would have made a really great world with loads of variation and interesting routes. As it is after the tour I’ll rarely ride Scotland.

Will Scotland be in Zwift’s world rotation?

From March i think
