Riders disappearing in Pace Partners

I have had this issue previously - where at certain parts of a course, everyone disappears for a moment and returns. However this new problem is random and continuous. It is also periodically accompanied by a “signal loss” banner at the top of the screen. I am running Zwift on Apple TV that is hardwired in (not wifi). A friend of mine experienced the same exact issue yesterday. Anyone else???

Pretty sure those symptoms would be caused by a wider network issue (read internet). The game runs locally but other riders are provided by the zwift servers. No connection to servers equals no riders and the warning message.

Not sure how you would prove that as i don’t know if ATV has logs to review.

Hi @Rob_Zable, thanks for the report.

Could you pinpoint where on map do riders disappear?

Also, when riders disappear, their name tags also disappear? Both from the screen and rider list on the right?

Previously - riders were disappearing on the bridge in Watopia (I forget which route) however their name badges would still be visible. It only occurred on the bridge. However, today (and yesterday for my friend) the riders were completely disappearing (and no name badges) at various and random points. Sometimes there was also a banner at the top of the screen saying I had lost connection (despite the fact that I am hardwired in).

Additionally - when the riders were disappearing - they were also disappearing from the rider list.

That sound like internet dropouts. It can be the ISP having issues.

Hi @Rob_Zable,

I took a quick peak at some of the server logging for your account to see if I can get some insight on this.

I’d like you to try force closing Zwift on your Apple TV, it sounds a bit crazy, but you wouldn’t believe how incredibly useful the “turn it off and back on again” strategy works with Apple TV. It fixes all sorts of issues: network connectivity issues, connection dropouts, graphics issues, and many other common problems.

If you need the steps, this support article has them.

Let us know how it goes.

That is/was a completely different problem that I believe has since been fixed. At a minimum, it was acknowledged as a bug.

Your current issue w/the signal loss or internet disconnected message and all riders disappearing is a network connectivity problem. In your case, since you’re running over ethernet, it’s most likely an upstream internet problem. It could be your ISP or further up the chain. You can try rebooting your in house ISP modem/router and/or notifying your ISP to check your connection.

Force quitting and ‘turning it off and back on again’ are not the same thing. You should force quit Zwift, (Companion app too) after each session. There is no need to reboot your Apple TV.

Yes, as @Lin_Alan said, the bridge problem was a rendering bug and it was recently fixed.

However, today (and yesterday for my friend) the riders were completely disappearing (and no name badges) at various and random points.

After looking at the logs stored in the server, it does look a connection problem. It shows connection timeouts to many different services, which usually indicates client connection issue.

Thank you!!
