Hi- I’ve noticed that for my last 2 (possibly 3) rides/races that my total distance as well as my total distance credited to the “Ride California” mission has been stuck at 867 kilometers.
I know your first instinct is to say that this is a connection issue or that I failed to upload results to the server after my rides/races. However, all evidence proves otherwise.
All of my race results and distances for races and rides are shown correctly in Strava, Zwift Power rankings, and in my companion app. They just don’t seem to be correctly and consistently credited within the main Zwift application.
Is this a known thing? What do you need from me to check this out?
Thanks!
My first Instinct is to ask, are you sure you have the “ride California” selected, you can only do one challenge at a time, so if you select “everest” the others will stop increasing.

Never changed it. I’ve been on California since day one. I started on Zwift in January this year. I contemplated changing to Everest, but I read forums that said that if I do that it wipes all my progress.
Also, my total miles is the same as my California miles…its just been stuck for the past week or so, even after getting credit for “Tour Of Watopia” Stage 2 (for example). The total miles stayed the same and the % progress has been stuck on 67%.
I don’t think this is true. I have read posts of people changing back and forth to get them done faster. but that sound like to much effort.
Are you sure you have the latest update of Zwift? What platform do you use for zwift?

By the way- thank you for taking the time to respond. It is interesting that you say that people are switching back and forth. My intent was to do that, but before I did I researched this in the forums and in Zwift support and it seemed very clear that you lose progress if you switch. I wish I had started with Everest, had intended on switching, but after reading what I did- I decided to just finish California first.
So I never switched. Just stayed with what I started with in January. I’ve been watching it inch up the % complete after every race and every ride since I just want to finish it- which is why I noticed that the last few rides it has been stuck, and my total miles have been stuck.
I am on the Apple TV platform. I am very careful to make sure I complete a save and upload after every ride. and Strava has a perfect record of my rides and race results and miles. Zwift Power has the same results. Just not Zwift itself…I have auto update with Apple TV. Last updated when the last Zwift update was made- I know since there was a bug with Apple TV that was fixed the next day (with another update). So that is the story…
You will not lose any progress switching between challenges, there are a lot of people who have and are doing it.
Can you post a screen shot of your Ride California Challenge.

Good to know that I can switch between challenges. That said, I don’t believe that is relevant to this issue. Thanks all for the help! Screenshots posted.
You might need to submit a ticket for the issue: Contact Us
On the AppleTV, make sure that you force quit the Zwift app after each activity by double tapping the home button on the remote and then swiping up on the Zwift app.
When saving activities, wait until the app reloads the login screen before doing anything else. You might get a strava notification on your phone before the Zwift app reloads the login screen, but still wait until the login screen reloads before killing the app.
Also, I can confirm that you are able to switch between challenges without losing progress toward them. Feel free to switch to Everest and complete it and the tron bike challenge before coming back to the California challenge. When you return to the California challenge you will pick up where you left off.
I hope this helps, and good luck with future activities counting toward your challenges.
So I got an official reply from Zwift support. Yes, this is a bug and they are working on a fix.
I have since hardwired my AppleTV although it sounds like this really was not the issue. I think the final clue that there was something wrong wasn’t that my Zwift Power numbers all updated perfectly except that my Total all time distance was LESS than my Total for 2019 to date. Since that is impossible, there is obviously a problem.
As is always the case it seems “there is nothing that can be done to correct such errors since we don’t have an admin tool to do that.”
Since I work in the software industry, I know what this really means- this means that they don’t have a tool that can easily update/overwrite/correct the system database by entering a number and clicking a button. They can and do have the ability to access the database directly to do this. It is just not something that they want to publicize since it would (I suspect) open up a can of worms with thousands of users asking for such fixes to correct such things brought in by the software quirks…
Anyway, here is the text from Zwift support. I do appreciate their timeliness and general positive attitude, although I am frustrated with their inability to correct such errors- at least in cases that were triggered by their software:
Hi David,
Thanks for getting back to us! I’m happy to help further. (:
First, I’m truly sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we don’t have a way to update your challenge progress or totals, because we don’t have an admin tool. This is a current technical limitation and I do apologize for the inconvenience.
However, it sounds like you may have run into a known issue that we are currently investigating. This issue causes challenge progress, such as the Ride California, to not save and your profile totals to not be updated as well. Our team is working on a fix for this issue and we hope to have that out as soon as possible. The fix will come from our end, so you’ll just need to keep your game up to date and the issue will be resolved. We greatly appreciate your patience in the meantime!
I hope this information helps! If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know.
Ride On!
I have the same issue. I’m very new to Zwift…only 2 weeks in, and riding my butt off. In the last 30 days I’ve ridden 460km. However my All Time Distance shows just 320km. It seems to be an issue where you participate in an event taking place in world (eg Richmond) that is not available today (watopia and london) if you free ride.
My issue has been escalated which is nice…but it has stuffed up my real-world progression. Do I do the group rides which I find challenging and rewarding…but get no progress towards California nor my accumulated totals, and don’t level up…or do I free ride to get game progress, but perhaps see lesser real-world fitness progress.
