I’m hoping that the issue which causes the Zwift Play controllers to keep disconnecting will be addressed soon
I don’t recall widespread posts on this for ages. I suggest raising a support case with Zwift support and working through it with them.
What computer are you using for this?
Can you move the computer or the Bluetooth antenna / dongle closer to the Zwift play controllers?
This was the issue I had previously. Using an upgraded 2010 Mac Pro, the Bluetooth antenna is at the back of the case and the computer is in the corner of the room near a wall, far away from the Zwift Play controllers.
When I tried my laptop 15” MacBook Air M2 one day there was no problem. They stayed connected the whole time.
Hey @P_Morrison , welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear that your Zwift Play controllers are disconnecting often. Is this happening in every ride, or just some of them?
My suggestion is to reach out to our support team so they can open a ticket and get into the details with you. On my end, I’ll share some of your session logs internally to get a head start.
Thank you.
I have done so in the past and the issue resolved for a while but now more often than not I experience connection issues on every ride.
I’ll try again though
Kind regards
Paul
I’m using Windows 11 and it updates frequently.
The computer is no more than 3ft away from the Zwift Play controllers so in my case, distance isn’t the problem. It’s quite frustrating as they worked fine for some time and nothing with my setup has changed and I always ensure the play controllers are adequately charged.
Kind regards
Paul
When you’re talking about wireless connectivity, you can never confidently assert that nothing has changed because changes are in the air all around you, influenced by everything in your home or even your neighbors. With my Play controllers I use the feedback on the pairing screen that shows the signal strength to position a Bluetooth dongle on an extension lead to get it in the place that offers the best signal. You can also use zwiftalizer.com to process a log file and it will show any problems with connectivity to your paired devices.
I did say nothing with MY SETUP had changed and wasn’t including extraneous factors.
Thanks for your support anyway
Kind regards
Paul
What Paul is saying is that, while your set up may not have changed, your environment may have.
I know.
I’ll probably stop using them anyway as I’m not prepared to invest any more trying to troubleshoot every little thing to get them working consistently again.
Kind regards
Paul
Hi @P_Morrison
Shuji at Zwift HQ here. Looked at your server log history and it appears your main Zwifting computer is a Windows PC, yes?
It looks like that PC has an ANT+ dongle plugged in - please remove the ANT dongle and your Play controller issues should go away. This is because Virtual Shifting only works when the trainer and the shift controller signals are all paired over Bluetooth. It can not work over ANT is the bottom line there.
I also notice you have a heart rate monitor, but its make/model is not captured on the server. Would it happen to be one that broadcasts over both Bluetooth and ANT? If yes - that ANT dongle is no longer needed at all. If the HRM is an old Garmin that only broadcasts over ANT there are ways to pair all your other things manually to still make everything work. Please LMK if you need those steps.
