I recently contacted this forum, and later Zwift support, about an issue I started experiencing with my Zwift Hub in September. I have loved my Hub since receiving it in January 2023. I started having power dropouts on Zwift Hub, where I would basically just start spinning at either very low power or zero power. The drops became more and more frequent until last week, when I returned to my previous Saris trainer. (I really don’t like the wheel-on trainer, but….)
The funny thing is, the Bluetooth connection does not appear to drop - the light on the trainer stays solid blue, and the Zwift app (on Apple TV) does not show a connection error message. I just lose power and resistance.
I followed all of the Zwift support recommendations. I have rebooted and power-cycled every piece of hardware. I took my bike off and tried my wife’s bike. I have tried three different devices: iPhone, iPad and ATV. No luck. (Full disclosure, I have not tried a PC yet, but should I have to? I probably will.)
I am thinking of trying an ANT+ connection through my PC, but I’m not sure how more effort I want to put into this; or if I want to just use the tire-eating machine that at least works.
I have no idea if ANT+ will help you, but you can use it with either a PC or a Mac. Range is very short and vulnerable to interference so it helps to put it on a 2m extension cable. Coospo sells a kit with a cable and a base that sits on the floor which costs less than the Garmin ANT+ adapter and works fine.
Looks like you are in the US so warranty period for the trainer is 1 year.
A cycling computer would be another way to test the trainer with ANT+. You could control the trainer in ERG mode or resistance mode to see if you get a different result with something like a Garmin cycling computer. Many of their watches can do the same.
Previous reports on the forum like yours, lost resistance & power with the Hub, seem to mostly end in replacement of some kind (under warranty or buying a trainer).
