No gears displayed [Wattbike] [1.34] [SOLVED]

Look, yeah, it’s a pain, but software development is actually still hard, and if as a user base we want all these shiny new features then sometimes things are going to break. If an update didn’t fix it in the next point release I’d possibly get a bit pointy faced about it. As it is I’ll wait this one out, look forward to the new stuff, and be thankful that it’s not me reading through the (millions of?) lines of code. You’ll notice there was a decent length of time between Shuji saying that could replicate the problem and that they had found the issues and fixed it. And be of good cheer, fellow Wattbike riders, this likely means that there will be that little bit more attention paid during the next release cycles to make sure our own cycles are up and running as normal.

Really is a pain this especially for a paid service.

hi since the latest Zwift update is anyone else not seeing what gear you are using in the top left display I am using the wattbike atom. Checked the gears and they are showing on the wattbike hub.

I didn’t realise how much a I relied on this small feature when using Zwift until it was removed.

Thanks - this issue kicked in for me this morning after an update. I can no longer see what gear I’m using in the top left display when riding the wattbike atom in Zwift (I can still change gear, just don’t know what gear I’m in other than hard/ not so hard).

Thanks Shuji! Appreciate the efforts and love Zwifting! Even if I can’t tell what gear I’m in.

If you’re out of gears, you’re out of gears. What’s the issue? Cross-chaining ain’t an issue right?

I have the same issue

I’m curious if riding outside are you constantly looking down at your cassette and chainrings to try to work out which gear you’re actually in.

That#s what I’ve been wondering reading this thread, surely you just ride by feel, if it feels to hard you just change to a bigger gear, and if you start spinning out you change into a smaller one

I’ve spent 2 years on a Wattbike choosing gears by feel and I’m in agreement. Just shift until it feels OK.

Nope. Nope. That’ll do. Up and down from there as necessary.

:man_shrugging:t2:

Personal feedback on that one and its kind of Wattbike specific (probably Atom V1 specific to)

One example, The Atom, when changing gears quickly can swamp the resistance on to much if you over gear - Things like cresting a hill especially in a race you can lose resistance quickly and find yourself spinning out, you then start shifting through the gears and its not an instantaneous change (like real life) and if you over gear you get bogged down and cadence drops off if you are on the limit you can do without that issue etc.
For me seeing what gear im in, I know from over time what gear I need to be in so that doesnt impact me and its a smoother ride which is more like outdoor riding.

Its not a cant use it, its more a frustration for me… Ive raced a few times with it, and it just makes things a little more difficult that previous.

Whilst there is want to compare to real life gearing its not quite like that.

Edit to add - We should also never normalise technology regression.

12 Days now, and I pay to use this subscription. A really poor show Zwift. Are Zwift going to reimburse customers for this time.

You’ve been unable to use Zwift for 12 days?

Its spoiling the overall experience. This should have been tested before it went live.
It was there before the update, it’s like riding in the dark with no lights.

I think the rest of us are just a bit baffled as to how it could be so severe when we have never had any sort of gear indicator (short of looking down at the cassette below us). We just shift when we need to shift and curse when we try to shift and there are no gears left.

Who cares I’ve just cancelled my subscription till next winter. I think it will encourage me to make more effort in getting out.

I’m sure Zwift will sort it soon. It’s not a deal breaker, frustrating yes, but I’m not losing sleep over it. Can you not use the Wattbike hub on your Apple phone/tablet to see what gear you’re in for the time being? I’ll try it later.

No gears this morning on the ipad, any update on when we will get a fix?

Thank you for this update.
However, don’t you carry out UAT?
