I have entered two events (not races) where I do not get a coffee stop. However, I do see the coffee icon with other users
Am I being discriminated?

Lovely, it should be rolled out everywhere to everyone.
Late start? 30:00 timer starts from when you start riding, not the event start, so if you’re in late you might not have it available when others do.

The coffee stop just never happened at all during the 1hr+ ride on 2 separate occasions. Strange really
Depends on the event. ZHQ group rides may be more likely to have them, but not all group rides will. Races won’t for obvious reasons.
Ok…. I just about give up. I have entered many group rides where other participants get a coffee break but I STILL don’t get this option.
This is just hopeless!
Can you give screenshots of the companion app next time, also the actual ride showing the timer and the time since you joined the event.
Then also give the event details so people can troubleshoot it.

The last group ride where I did not receive a coffee break was yesterday Sunday 23rd November at 6:30am Australian Eastern Standard time. The event was called AHDR Social Sundays and lasted over 2 hours. I did not receive any coffee breaks during this time, The Coffee Break icon on the companion app was dimmed during the time of the event.
I messaged other members in the event if this happened to them. There was another participant who did not receive a coffee break. Most other participants did receive a coffee break.
Strangely, as soon the event finished - I get a coffee break!

If you were more than 30 minutes into the event and adjacent to another rider and didn’t get the coffee break option, I think you should contact support and ask them to look into it, since it should work. When coffee break is not available, clicking on it in the in-game action bar should also reveal how much time remains before it is available.

When you say ‘clicking on it in the in-game action bar’, does that mean using the computer to bring up the Zwift Menu Bar at the bottom of the screen and clicking the dimmed out coffee break icon?
I’m assuming this ‘feature’ is not mirrored on the Companion App - or is it?
This bug has been dragging on during my group rides for a while now so I may need to contact support.
Yes exactly - not in the companion app, the action bar is the bottom of the screen thing in the game

Be sure you are next to another rider when you try it. If you are too far away you will not be able to activate the Coffee Stop.

OK…. I did a group ride and guess what…. I got a coffee break. Interestingly, I did not receive a coffee break at the start of the event, but I did after 22min. Most of the coffee breaks occur around the 29min mark.
So I don’t know what is going on.
Did you warm up in the pen for 8 minutes before the group ride started? I believe that is the reason you were able to activate your coffee stop after 22 minutes. (Possibly also reason why it wasn’t available in first 5 minutes - I don’t know)

If you warm up in a free ride and then join the event from the in-game join button (not ending the warmup ride and joining from the home screen) it counts the warmup time toward the 30 minutes, but skips the initial 30 second coffee break
