Hi, I did the grand Fondo thing yesterday, where a toilet pause would have been handy, my coffee pause was inactive for the entire ride, whereas others in the group had multiple opportunities.
Never having tried one I can only assume they weren’t available for that ride, I know not all have them. You should have been on the RoboPacer ride on Saturday around triple Flat Loops, at one point it looked like it was sponsored by Starbucks.
Were you near other riders when you tried to use it? You need to be within a certain proximity of another rider I order for the coffee stop to be active.
That sounds like a problem at your end then. I’m not sure it’s anything to do with the companion app, though I could be wrong. As already said you need to be close to other riders for it to work, other than that I’m lost. You could try going all pro & having a bucket nearby, using it when needed.
Not your fault, not related to ATV either. It happened to me in every zFondo series event, and once in a while in other group rides. Coffee Break has never worked properly, not the way Zwift says it should work, and not the way it should actually work.
In the zFondo series, after the 1st Coffee Break , I got the usual 30 minutes count down after which it simple shows as unavailable, even way before the end and while surrounded by zwifters. It was disabled on ZCA as well. As soon as the cool down starts, CB is back on…
It’s worth noting that the zFondo events have their own event type in the filters as being “FONDO” itself. And that said, it’s not clear if Zwift ever said anything about how a coffee stop “should work” for a Fondo event, though their original guidance was simply that they’re only available in non-competitive events.
It seems Zwift intends that their Fondos be considered competitive events. Which is at the very least confusing, given the event description which includes: “giant group ride and a go-at-your-own-pace event..”. However, in Zwift itself, unlike “group ride” events, they display Race Results for the ZFondos.
Interesting. Do you have an example event ID? Randomly hunting around I haven’t found one, but only checked a few or so.
Anyway, as Race Results are seemingly default for Fondo event types, methinks Zwift wants these considered as “competitive” events, but really, only they can say. There has to be some reason they created the Fondo event type and didn’t just use the existing Group Ride type.
I think any of the GGCC group rides that are based on distance have it turned on. The description has a clue as to why… “All our group rides also have a closing minirace, to start from behind the beacon.”
There are others out there but I can’t suggest a way to identify them in advance.
I don’t know anything about the fondo events or Zwift’s intent for them.
