I use AppleTV, and rode the Alpe several times without issue.
Not in an event. But, even with that, not a lot of issues with ATV. Of course, there’s still the remote!!
Same as every other platform.
- Platforms - This UI design accounts for usage across platforms, including the differences in mouse-driven computers, touch screen devices, and Apple TV (ATV) Remotes. Ease of use on all platforms is a major design consideration.
^^ This is what Shuji said earlier in the thread. I guess “wait and see” when it comes to how it works with the ATV remote. At the moment, this is how it works on Windows machines.
Well, it’s a “major design consideration”.
That doesn’t mean it will be implemented appropriately, just that it was considered.
Several of our group have ATV and do 2-3 laps of Alpe each day of the week and have no issues.
Lots of people had the game crash before the descent. It was a tvOS/iOS specific fatal error in the software. The thread on here was big enough, let alone all the thousands of users unaware of this forum.
All I’m saying (yet again) is that the notion that any platform is ‘flawless’ or ‘more stable’ is inaccurate, so I challenge it. There are problems posted on here with Apple TV on a regular basis, it’s not magic.
Anyway it’s off-topic, I won’t continue.
How can I force the new home screen to download?
This is a phased rollout, so you may not yet be ‘participating’. Once the rollout reaches you it should appear automatically.
Interesting that so far I don’t think we’ve seen a single forum post from someone who has said they’ve received the new home screen.
Very slow rollout? No-one has noticed their new home screen or doesn’t have anything to say on it? I’ve missed something maybe?
Probably like the first Fight Club rule, slightly altered to Zwift homescreen: “You do not talk about new homescreen.”
I would imagine it is like Clubs - the rollout is 100% specific users only for now. Hopefully it will start to hit random PC users soon. Unlike clubs, it hasn’t had the same great comms and progress updates behind it.
I am a fan of the old interface due to the responsiveness of the resolution. This new GUI will be improved with proper resolution scaling. At 2k or 4k resolution, your users are using television screens a few feet away from their bikes. The menu should not be tucked into the top left of the screen making it impossible to see without being 12 inches from the TV screen. The GUI should be much more responsive in that regard. Thank you!
Apple TV remote again. Any chance with the new home screen that it will be possible to use the ATV remote to it’s full potential.
My Windows 11 laptop has updated and the home screen doesn’t scale/fit my display resolution very well. Once riding or in the other options, it’s fine, but the bottom options on the home screen are all cut off and it’s very cumbersome to move/navigate around.
Changing the laptop resolution just makes the whole app not scale (remember all other aspects are fine currently).
You should be able to scroll down using the mouse scroll wheel.
Not very easily with the touchpad mouse and then sideways takes input from arrows once on the bottom row.
I just wanna walk into my garage and start up a ride again with not so much effort to navigate - like I could 2 days ago.
It’s a “feedback” page - so my feedback is the main screen could be better if it scaled better (like it used to!..haha).
Are you saying it has horizontal scrolling?
I recall reading years ago that if a page design requires horizontal scrolling, it is a poorly designed page.
There should never be a case where horizontal scrolling is required.
Sounds like the fights over carousels which everyone says are very very bad. Items shouldn’t also be below the fold either, even if you can scroll down,
We really need screen captures to show the flow of what is happening.
I bought an Amazon Fire HD a few years ago, and it had a carousel. I returned it the next day.
