New EPIC route ideas

Hear me out… why not have a whole route around the Epic and Alpe mountain range. Add in a tunnel where the road to sky meets the gravel, a bypass in the middle with a new small KOM. A third EPIC KOM route. Some Italian, French, Belgian style towns along the way. Some cobbles, some punchy hills. You could add tens of kilometres of fun. New amazing routes, new amazing pretzels, super Fondos.

This is a fantastic idea.

There’s a very similar suggestion here:

I recall another thread with a similar map as well.

I certainly hope Zwift plans to build out Watopia a lot more.

OMG – minds think alike. Your map and my map are almost equivalent.

Note mind predates the December 2020 expansion, so is missing those roads. Yours adds southern access to Col Du Zwift, which I really like. Mind has inland hills on the sea coast, and an HC climb on the western side of Alpe.

Love all these suggestions

Yeah, I really like your map as well. There is so much potential.

Have you investigated the Zwift Insider Rebel Routes? These will add some fun to your routes list, and are already recognized Strava Segments. Not many Zwifters have actually accomplished them all!

You should look especially at the Rebel Route called “The Perimeter”…

They’re a good idea, but I’ve never done one because manual turns are a PITA. I don’t have the memory capacity to memorise them.

I have an old good piece of paper on my handlebars :joy::joy::joy:

I have too much CBA for that. If Zwift actually put in the route planner several people have asked for over the years, maybe I’ll get round to them.

That’s actually part of the “charm” of these routes. It’s all too easy to lose concentration and miss a turn… which is precisely part of the challenge. As a result of my deep dislike of the constantly spinning mini-map (I like North-UP), my participation in the Rebel Routes finally imprinted a better understanding of the maps into my grey matter, too. Enjoy!
