I just did a 40m 2hr ride and got an “uh-oh” when I finished and the data has now been lost.
Is there a way to manually add a ride into the companion app so I can get on track with my target?
You can manually add in Strava which is ok. This is the longest ride that I’ve lost and is slightly annoying.
I don’t think there’s any way to manually add an activity to Zwift. However, it’s possible that your ride saved locally and you might be able to find the .fit file and upload to Strava. It’s also possible that the ride will upload with a delay, or the next time you log in to Zwift, so you might give that a try.
Thanks Nigel,
Found the .fit file and added it to Strava so that’s up to date. My weekly target in Zwift is now 2hrs light. This is the longest ride I’ve lost which is really annoying.
Just goes to prove the addage that if it isn’t in Strava it didn’t happen, cos Zwift won’t allow you to add their lost data…
It seems Zwift servers are struggling with an increased number of users over the Christmas week. Having lost my 2hr ride this week I managed to record another ride which then didn’t record any PB’s. Luckily Strava has them so it seems to be better to use Strava to set targets and just use the companion app for ride ons.
Currently the companion app is also behind on my week streak due to the lost data.
I haven’t heard of any increase in reports about this, but there are always some people who can’t save rides. I’m on every day and I don’t think it’s ever happened to me. If you don’t see a ride in the Companion app then it probably didn’t save at all.
What are you running the game on?
Do you have Zwift running on more than one device?
Hi Steve,
Nope. Very conscious of that issue.
Cheers
Pete
Hey Paul,
It saved in my laptop, which is how I was able to put it into Strava. Zwiftalizer didn’t show any issues outside of the usual stuff but the “uh-oh” message suggested the ride wasn’t saved but could be found locally, so I suppose somewhere along the line the server just couldn’t save.
The companion app has now updated to 91 weeks so that’s levelled out. I’m only short of 2hrs for my weekly target so will put emphasis back into Strava for recording rides. The companion app isn’t up to it, which is a pity. The silver lining here though, is that I can now use other platforms too.
I don’t know the details of your laptop but if the CPU is new enough to support the Video Screenshots feature, turn it off in settings and see if that helps. It’s a common reason for failed saves. This has nothing to do with the Companion app which only reads data saved by the game on your laptop.
Thanks for that Paul,
I did take a couple of snaps on a gentle ride with my other half. The laptop isnt brilliant but copes well.
So, does a ride event get stored to the local machine then uploaded on closure of the ride? That would explain a lot!
Every day’s a school day.
Thanks and happy New year
Pete
Yes the fit file should be written locally and that can be uploaded to Strava, but when you end and save an activity, that’s when it’s uploaded to Zwift and will appear in the Companion app as well as your feed on the Zwift website (my.zwift.com).
Taking screenshots is generally safe, but the Video Screenshots feature will appear in Zwift settings if the CPU in the PC is new enough, and that will be constantly recording video all the time when you are riding. It can sometimes interfere with saving rides for reasons that I don’t understand but it’s a thing, so if you see the Video Screenshots setting is present, try turning it off. That won’t stop you from taking the normal static screenshots in the game.
