Makuri Pretzel - route stopped working

Hi all,

I tried the Makuri Pretzel (78km) today but the route status bar stopped working after 58km. As a result, I could not complete the route.

Has anybody else come across this issue?

I can’t see a route diagram to tell me where the route should go exactly, but you seemed to take a u-turn in Neokyo late on in the ride, not long before you finished. So I wonder if that’s the problem, or you accidentally hit a manual turn button shortly before then?

Hi Steve,

I lost the route status bar before that, at around the 58km mark. I thought I would keep riding to see if it reappeared - but sadly it did not. I don’t believe I hit and manual turn buttons.

I’m going to try again tomorrow(hopefully) to see if this happens again.

I’ll keep you in the loop.

If you speak to Zwift support then they may be able to see what happened from your log file.

I would be interested in knowing what you find during your 2nd attempt. I plan to ride the route on Wed, Sept 11.

I was riding IRL today, but hope to be on there tomorrow. I’ll keep you informed of the outcome.

OK…

I road the Makuri Pretzel course for the second time today - NO LUCK. I was booted off the course route after 28km. See images

So… This course is stuffed - for me anyway

It might just be a section where it disappeared, what happens if you just keep riding and dont take any manual turns? It might come back on screen after a minute or so?

Nope… I kept riding and nothing. I have done this attepted route twice now.

Steve,

How does one contact Zwift without chatting to a Bot?

If I am interpreting your post correctly, you got booted after 58km on your first attempt and at 28km on your 2nd.

Did you have any internet drop outs on either attempt?
Are you on IOS or Windows?
Using CA as bridge?
Did you continue riding to see if you stayed on course despite losing the route indicator on the HUD?

I’m going to ride it tomorrow and will report back (PC, GE Force 4070, Win11).

Correct Rob.

I lost the Route Status Bar after 58km 2 days ago, then this morning, lost the Route Status Bar after 28km. I appears Zwift is pushing me in the wrong direction, and there is no way to retrieve the Route Status Bar. See my images.

I’m on Apple Macbook laptop
Not using CA as a bridge.
I continued riding to see if the Route Status Bar returned. No luck.

I know this might sound crazy, but I might try again!

Are you sure you are being routed in the wrong direction after the route progress bar disappears? This has happened to me twice (disappearing route progress bar) and both times I kept riding the route until completion. The first time was Zwift Games 2024 Epic the progress bar disappeared when I was in the jungle. The was already a forum topic on it so it was a known issue so I kept riding and sure enough got the route completion. The other day I did Richmond Loop Around and the progress bar disappeared around 8 miles in. It looked like I was being routed correctly so I kept riding and got the route completion at 26.5 miles.

Laura,

Yes I am sure. I was routed the wrong way today compared to 2 days ago. So there is a serious bug (for me) on this route.

Any chance you might do your third try without your steering device connected? Known issues with steering devices being engaged unexpectedly.

If you talk to the bot and tell it about the problem, then you persist in telling it that its suggestions don’t help, it’ll eventually take you to a form that lets you contact support.

You can also try emailing support@zwift.com

I’m not sure why Stephan got misrouted but I successfully completed Makuri Pretzel accompanied by another rider who also finished it today.

I recall experiencing a problem like that a couple years ago, also in Makuri. I don’t know if it’s a related problem though. Similar symptoms.

How very annoying. Maybe it is a steering-related issue as suggested by Ian in the next reply. I am going to try this route on Friday…I don’t have steering so maybe the route will work for me.

Or if you are looking around with the drone camera using a keyboard and a turn option comes up you can inadvertently turn off the route, and do a uturn by holding the down arrow to move the camera around… would be nice if the drone camera view disabled these turns… its been asked for many times and still not resolved.

Laura,

I do have a Sterzo steerer. Please keep me informed as to the outcome.
