macOS problems with new update? [1.13.0] [May 19 2021] [SOLVED]

I’m on Mac air os 10.12.6 ? How can I update to 11x as it doesn’t give me an option ? Really frustrating has forced into updates on something working perfectly well by Zwift !!

If they expect that then they shouldn’t accept paying customers with the older operating systems. The fact of the matter is they provide a specification and both Zwift and their customers enter into a contract based upon that spec. If they wish to change the spec they are well within their rights to do that, but it’s common practice to forewarn users that their OS will become obsolete or unsupported at some future date.

@miguelr Even more true since they still list on the supported specs “macOS® 10.11 or higher”

Exactly, I am really so tired of Zwift and their $15 a month software that constantly crashes and has performance problems. And now for two days I cant ride and have to deal with hours of computer BS just to get a quick 30-60 minute ride in. Let’s face it Rouvy which is only $8 a month is better and more realistic anyway. Looks like its time to just delete Zwift again.

As far as I know you can’t. My MacAir won’t update past OS Sierra.

10% of the user base is a pretty large number and if a software company is going to sacrifice any portion of its user base it needs to tell them in advance or give them an option, if possible to not have to upgrade the software

So Zwift messes up an upgrade and the solution is to put the onus of a fix on it’s customers by upgrading their operating system (if they can, or want)! Rouvy is looking like a good alternative right now!

I uninstalled and reinstalled this morning…now
it doesn’t even get to the ‘oops something went wrong phase’… I cancelled my auto-renew payment…ZWIFT…some feedback would be nice.

This is exactly my experience as well. Re-installer, now nothing happens when i click «lets go», the Windows just closes, not even the error message.

I have just cancelled my subscription.

I see some other options discussed here, i’ll try them out:) can’t afford a new Mac just for Zwift….

yes…that’s what happens to me now. After clicking lets go…it just disappears. I’ve spent several hours on trying to resolve ZWIFT issue. Can’t afford to spend more time. It worked fine before this release. I’ve cancelled my subscription also. Hopefully, they find a fix as I like ZWIFT, but it takes the fun out when there are major glitches like this.

Same as others…Also unable to Launch on Mac, app just disappears after clicking Let’s Go.
OS 10.14.6

For what its worth, on Zwift’s own supported devices page it gives the following as “the best” configuration:
Microsoft® Windows 10 64bit or higher, or macOS® 10.13 or higher

It gives a minimum requirement of OS 10.11. So it should have been tested for Mac OSs other than Big Sur. If they are only going to support (and pre-test) Big Sur, they should update the required specs page.

think you can upgrade to latest OS system , I’m on mac air 2013 so possible but not enough storage on hard drive so too much messing for zwift, like others i may have to cancel and move to rough or others !!

Yeah but I used the “reboot-and-then-hit-the-launcher-as-soon-as-bootup-completes” trick last night to login and tick off a couple of new routes.

I’m one of those unfortunate souls whose Macs can’t upgrade to Big Sur (much as I would have liked to) so this workaround seems to be OK for me in the interim.

Really wish I wouldn’t have woken up early this morning. Zwift has known about the issue for two days now and still no resolution? Not cool

Still having some issues even when I can get in with the fast reboot trick (MacOS High Sierra).

  • I get badges when completing routes, but they do not appear on my badge list
  • I switched my Challenge to Tour of California, but it switched back to Everest (and zeroed out the km on ToC)
  • while I can ride, rides no longer connecting to Strava

Same on my iMac.

The thing is most people don’t want to dedicate their newest new computer to their Zwift cave. I have a very functional older iMac with a great large screen that runs High Sierra, but can’t update beyond that. It works really well to have an older, large screen computer dedicated to Zwifting. Especially with old iMacs with high-res screens.

Most apps will at least give it’s user base a warning if they’re not planning to support an older OS. I’m hoping it’s the case that they just forgot to test the latest update with older MacOS. Whatever happened, it’s a pretty big oversight. It’s still not working for me today so maybe this is the push I needed to go back outdoors :woman_shrugging:

Still not working after two days! Waiting for a response from Zwift! They should be communicating with paying membership and should have tested this before releasing it!

Zwift HQ employees have replied to this post numerous times with updates, did you not bother reading the thread?
