Yesterday I installed the latest version of the Zwift app on my Android phone, and ever since I am unable to use my Zwift hub. The app connects as expected when I start it, but once I start pedaling it loses the connection and does not reconnect until the wheel has stopped spinning. Obviously this is beyond infuriating and so far Zwift Support has been absolutely no help other than to send me the equivalent of the “unplug your router” advice I always get from my internet provider. I’m hoping someone else has experienced something similar, though I don’t know how many are still using the Hub.
There are still many people using that trainer. If you’re pairing it directly via Bluetooth to a phone running Zwift, it is not possible for your home network connectivity to be the problem. First step should be to remove the app from the phone, unplug the trainer, plug it back in, reinstall the app and try again. The app must remain in the foreground at all times so don’t swipe it away to access any other app
Thanks, but no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app in my phone but it’s the same behavior. It connects on start up but then immediately disconnects as soon as I start pedaling. When I stop pedaling, it reconnects, only to drop again as soon as I resume. The app is completely unusable for me currently.
I’m sorry, but this sounds like a problem with your trainer which was coincidental with your app update.
Do have cycling computer or smart watch that you could use to test the trainer?
Unfortunately I don’t.
Probably, but I’ve now wasted 2 days trying to get Zwift Support to confirm that, so I don’t know yet if it’s fixable or will need to be replaced.
I think you need to find something that is not Zwift to test your trainer and prove to yourself that it’s not broken. Testing it with Zwift running on something that isn’t your Android phone might also be useful.
Yes, I’ve been trying to do that. I did install the app on a PC and got the exact same behavior. I downloaded the Rouvy app, but am hesitant to give them my credit card number for the 7 day trial. I appreciate the suggestions. I’ve also got multiple conversations still going with Support. I’m hoping they have a way to run a diagnostic on it, but so far no luck.
I think JOIN affiliate links like this one https://join.cc/neroshow will let you try it for a month with no payment, and they have a workout player. In the app stores it’s called “JOIN Cycling Coach”.
When you run Zwift, are you able to pedal the bike when you’re still on the pairing screen? Does it stay connected and show watts and cadence when you do that?
Thanks for the link, I’ll take a look.
It shows cadence for a very brief moment, then drops almost immediately once I start pedaling. I started a route yesterday and was able to progress a tenth of a mile over 2 minutes by starting and stopping every couple seconds.
You can try out some free software to see if your trainer does the same thing, e.g. MyWhoosh.
Thanks. Support asked me to connect via phone bridge on my PC, but it’s the same behavior there. If I pedal very slowly I can maintain a connection for maybe half a minute but that’s the best I can manage. Seems to be truly wrecked.
Hey I have exactly the same problem. I ll go on woosh too it’s free and seems to work better
