I was supposed to ride 2-3Hours zone2 today, instead im doing 2hours of how to fix what you cant fix and 1 hour of mildly infuriating “support”.
Hi, what kind of Tablet are you using? Is it Android or Apple? Is someone in your household using the microwave by any chance while you’re riding? How far away is the tablet from your HR Sensor?
Have you tried to make a bridge connection using your Companion App on your mobile?
Hey Mike
Im using a NokiaT20 Tablet. Android 13+
No Microwave
The Tablet is 1 to 2 Armslength away
I also make sure to turnoff any interfering devices or sources.
So i turn off every other wifi or bluetooth out of pure desperation even tho that shouldnt really matter.
The Signal from my devices to the wifi and back is very good, its just 3 meter of air.
You would have to enlighten me on how the companion app would help in the fact that my devices(kickr&h10) are connected to the tablet over the app, which loses the connection to the devices and numbers - watts - rpm - hr.
Thank you for your interest and coming forward and trying to help.
So just that I understand your setup. Currently, everything is paired to the tablet dirtectly, that means Wahoo Kickr and your Heart Rate belt? Is the Kickr and your H10 on the current firmware? You have to update it using the Wahoo or Polar App. (But I’m quite sure you have updated it already) Nevertheless, do you have other devices paired to the Tablet at the same time? I’m asking because some Apple TV devices can’t handle more than 2 bluetooth connections at once, maybe the chip on your tablet behaves somehow the same way.
To test it with the Companion App in Bridge Mode, you could give this a try, so that Kickr and H10 connect to the companion App and the app will relay these connections via WiFi to Zwift running on your Tablet.
So we can rule out your tablet as a potential source of the issue.
Thanks for bringing this query to our attention! Jose here from Zwift.
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing disconnections. I’ll be glad to help you!
After reviewing your account, I noticed a few BLE disconnection issues with your sensors. It appears connected but does not transmit data. Please follow the steps outlined in this article, if the issue persists try Re-installing Zwift, to create a new relationship between the sensors.
If you ever need help, remember that you can contact us at support@zwift.com.
Exactly Mike. Everything is paired to the tablet directly.
Wahoo Kickr with wifi and h10 with bluetooth.
Firmware is updated, thats the first thing i did when setting up.
I have nothing else paired to the tablet.
I can give this a try, but there have been weeks where i had no issues at all, and then there is a new zwift update and suddenly the issues are back.
I am very confident that my Tablet which was built and released in 2021 is able to run an app that was created 2014.
If not, wouldnt you think that is an app problem, rather than “outdated device” problem?
Hey Jose,
Its nice to hear that you also have a direct support email!
Unfortunately you would not get redirected to it on the homepage, bummer!
Well the “few BLE disconnection issues with your sensors. It appears connected but does not transmit data” are only for my h10!
Since Im also losing connection to my Kickr which is connected via wifi.
I dont really know whats happening there since it worked fine for like a week or two and then started acting up again wednesday the 29th of january
I also make sure to turn off my tablet after every workout session.
I looked at the steps in the article, but thats pretty much what i have been doing or doesnt apply to me.
For today I will try the bridgemode and if that doesnt help a clean reinstall.
BOTH are not longterm solutions tho.
You cant ask your users having to use 2 devices what 1should do or reinstall the app every few days.
Didn’t want to say you have an outdated device, I’m sorry if it sounded to you like that. Was just thinking what might be the issue. First what came into my mind was the Bluetooth thing, some brand new Apple devices have this issue allowing no more than two simultaneously connections.
Next would be that the App somehow wasn’t closed and a halfway active session was still running. But you already said you shutdown the Tablet completely.
Deleting and Re-installing the App might also help. If you want to completely erase it, try going into the setting of Android → Apps and search for zwift, then Force Close, delete Cache and App Data. Then uninstall and reinstall from the App store. It’ll be like it was never installed prior and then pair the Wahoo and H10 again.
Hey Mike,
No, im sorry if it sounded to you like i accused you of that.
I just heard that alot lately.
Sorry for my late answer guys, but there was stuff to be tested.
Hear me out
The bridge thing wouldnt work, starting with the explanation on the homepage lookin completely different than what is shown in the app, to figuring it out myself but the app not finding my kickr.
On to the probably easier fix, the re-install.
Worked wonders, im not gonna lie. It worked flawlessly without any connection problems or short outtage, aside the extra time to re-download & having to redo all the settings again.
Especially the trainer difficulty is a pain cause you need to have it higher than 50% for races and you kinda got used to whatever difficulty youve finished your ftp test on.
That aside we might just consider this problem as solved right?
Unfortunately wrong.
Last Sunday zwift app forced me to run an update.
Guess whats after?
Monday connection problems
Tuesday connection problems
Wednesday same
So for Thursday i then reinstalled the whole shabang again and it worked, not as flawless, there are some hickups still but atleast no crazy unfixable issues as before and only in the first 10 minutes where im still in warmup and not right in the middle of a v02max interval or w/e.
I think after this we can clearly identify it as an app problem and the updates are probably corrupting something in the app.
Theres something that might help your Techguys aswel and that is during these faulty connects my h10 would get hot.
Just as if the app was spamming it with signals, i immediatly thought of ddos.
Also let me add, just so we dont go down this rabbithole for no reason, i use my h10 with other apps for other training aswel and there has never been a problem like that
ONLY with the zwiftapp.
