Could be so, but i have only seen info that in zwift, it’s 1sec, but I could be wrong.
Ok well looks like it was a short working period. Only 2 rides with it working as intended.
I had 2 temporary drops and 3 full disconnections within 6 minutes today. I Unplugged the Kickr for about 1 minute then tried again. I got about 10 minutes uninterrupted until another full disconnection. Reverted back to BT to finish my ride. I won’t be using Wifi for a while.
No way!!!
I had no issues with 2 rides but will try again today… Bluetooth was the worst for me…
Same at my V6 after Update have after 1h 1 drop an 1 full disconnect. Hope with direct connection it will be better
Did you open a ticket with wahoo?
Direct connect was of no help before the firmware update… Windows is up to date as well as Zwift?
No not a the moment. Want Test with direct connect an Apple TV. If the issue is not solved I will open a ticket!
All up to date Firmware and Zwift and Apple TV!
OK maybe it has to do with Apple TV in that case… So far on Windows it’s staying stable!
You should open a ticket nonetheless in case they know about it or not to inform them…
Figured I would just add an update that with all recent to iOS / Zwift on the iPad specifically - wireless network direct connect is still unavailable with Kickr V6 for me.
This is stated as solved but I’m having the exact same issues upgrading from KickR Bike V1 to V2. Intermittent dropouts (using Wifi) every 4-5 minutes.
Only 2-3 seconds, then avatars come back, but enough to get dropped in fast races.
Switched to BT but same problem remains.
Anyone else with KB having similar issues?
If avatars are disappearing that’s a wider issue with internet connectivity. Evidenced by it being the same on Bluetooth.
Ah, thanks Dave. Any thoughts on what I could do to further investigate / solve this?
Various options to bring internet to your devices, such as regular wi-fi, mesh, powerline, big long ethernet cable etc. Wi-fi repeaters/extenders are generally the least preferable, because they half the bandwidth. Speed is less important than consistency and reliability, though they obviously tend to go hand in hand. If you’re using wi-fi, consider using an app on your phone to monitor signal strengths and potential interference.
I’ve checked the .log files in the Zwiftalizer and there’s no UDP/TCP disconnects, however 12+ Bluetooth FTMS Message Resends, and some BT resets.
KickR Bike V2 uses the Bluetooth protocol over TCP/IP if I’m not mistaken.
I’ve done the following to try and mitigate the problem:
- Connected the KB via Direct Connect (ethernet) to my network (same as the Zwift PC is on)
- Configured the DHCP server to assign a static IP address to my Zwift PC.
In today’s race I had no issues, and the .log file is clean.
Next up I will try to see if I can somehow use MAC and IP address binding with the KickR bike as well.
Last but not least, more of a reflection. In the Wahoo app the KB is seen as connected through direct connect and WiFi, but has a different IP address compared to on my router overview. Wahoo wants to have the KB connected through direct connect AND WiFi but only the WiFi-IP is seen on my network…
Just to let everyone here now that the dropout bug is back with the latest kickr v6 firmware update v5.0.14
Just rolled back to v5.0.12
Weird, I did a 90 minute ride yesterday on firmware 5.0.14, no dropouts.
Wifi connection worked great for me until a few days ago. Bluetooth still there, no worries. Wifi gone. This is all with Apple TV.
Weird. And annoying.
Same, Wifi worked perfectly until this week, now direct connect is not an option, only BLE
+1 here. Kickr v6. 5.0.14 firmware. latest version of Zwift - WiFi does not show up as a pairable option, only BT or ANT+. Windows 10 PC.
+1 here, too. Kickr v6 5.0.14 firmware. Zwift Update Version 1.33.0 (107174)
Wi-Fi option no longer showing on Apple TV (2022) or my MacBook Pro
