KICKR v6 WiFi connection | Wahoo Direct Connect [October 2022; February 2023]

40 minutes in and still perfect as it should!

Superb! Off to hook the V6 back up right now then! Thanks for the updates :ok_hand:t2:

Most welcome!! Just finished right now a 61 minutes (2 minute extra for safety lol) and 100% stable. Can’t ride any longer but zero drops! I would say you are good to go!

Thanks again Ludo, most appreciated!

My pleasure! Good luck and see you down the road (got your invite!):biking_man::top: cheers!

Just did a 55 minute workout, WiFi was solid!

Feeling a lot better about my purchase now.

Updated and risked it for ZRL. Like others, the issues seem resolved. Well done team

Feeling better to have a working trainer instead of an expensive paperweight :rofl::rofl:

So even if I were to use a UTP cable and DirectConnect adapter, the WIFI client will still be alive, broadcasting for WIFI networks etc, causing potential radio issues.
Not optimal when trying to remove as much radio signalling as possible in the 2.4Ghz, 5 GHz band.
Strange implementation. Most network devices I know of, turns OFF WIFI client, if fixed network interface is used, both for stability and also for network security reasons.

awsome they got it “working”. Stable both with Direct Connect and WIFI?

I used direct connection today, solid as a rock :+1:t2:

Good to know!!!
I’m in the thought process of upgrading from my Kickr Core to a Kickr v5 with Direct Connect, just to reduce latency and also to get the 250ms polling time, vs the 1s, that is the polltime on BT/ANT+

Since the v6 appears to keep the wifi active, even with the fixed connection, I rather not buy the v6

Anyone who knows if the polltime is 250ms also over wifi?

Didn’t test direct connect yesterday, only had time for WiFi test. But should be working.

Now if you want to upgrade from kickr core like I did, the v6 is the good choice especially now that it is repaired. Unless you have very tight budget then a v5 would be cheaper of course. But the v6 has everything you need!

Can confirm as well. Updated, connected via WiFi, and no dropouts whatsoever during a 45 min. ERG workout. The V6 worked flawless as it should.

Hint: When connecting to WiFi one should physically disconnect the direct connect adapter from the V6. Maybe obvious to some, but took me some minutes to figure out

Exactly, when the direct connect adapter is plugged in, it has priority over wifi, so it will be “wired” on that case. To specifically use wifi, you need to take the wire off

One of the main benefits with using Direct Connect and cable is that once you stop pedal, cadence drops to 0 almost instantly and there’s no Supertuck delay (according to Shane Miller YT videos) which is a huge advantage. Do you get this effect using WIFI as well? i.e. avatar Supertucks instantly?

I wouldn’t say instantly but in 1s yes. Way faster than ant+ and quite singing to adapt because it will notice really fast you stop pedaling so going to 0w so fast is surprising when you are used to for years for a long time before happening🤣

Thanks!

Awsome, that’s what 250ms polltime vs 1s polltime does.
Im about to invest in the new trainer, just to get this single benefit. It will be a huge advantage to get more opportunities of short recoveries in a race. It’s huge! almost unfair

Haha enjoy you future v6

Isn’t 250ms polltime available with Bluetooth connection?
