Kickr Core + Galaxy A8 Tablet - Intermittent Signal Drops [May 2025]

As the title says.

I don’t use the tablet much for Zwift, but for occasionally when someone else uses the laptop. It’s been fine as recently as a month ago when I rode the Uber Pretzel. But today, I tried using the tablet and it just would not stay connected. Restarted the trainer, restarted the tablet, deleted Zwift and reinstalled… all these did not fix the problem.

It will connect initially, then as soon as I start pedaling, the connection drops for roughly 20-30 secs. Then it will hook back up for about five seconds before dropping again. Lather, rinse, repeat. Zwift still works with the laptop just fine.

Help please…

Hey @SnowDog,

Jose from Zwift support here! Sounds like you’re hitting some intermittent connection snags with Zwift on your tablet, and I’m happy to jump in and help.

I peeked at your account, and everything’s looking good there – kudos for keeping it updated! I did notice some Bluetooth (BLE) disconnects in your logs, just like you mentioned:

To help get this sorted, I’d recommend checking out this article: BLE and ANT+ Interference Troubleshooting Tips on common signal interference issues and some potential fixes.

Give those steps a shot and let me know how it goes! You can reply right here or get in touch with us directly.

Thanks!

Thanks, Jose, for the tips and article. I tried some of those suggestions initially, and again some more this morning, and dropouts are still happening. They did seem to improve after my tablet prompted me to tap something “for a better view,”, to where it restarted the Zwift app. Afterwards, the connection times to the trainer were five seconds on and then five seconds off, but I’ve yet to have a steady connection. Only other thing I haven’t tried yet is turning the bluetooth off on my tablet and then back on which I’ll do this afternoon. Otherwise, while things are a little better than initially, it’s still not functioning like it should.

do you have any other devices such as an iphone or android phone that could test the signal. Install Zwift on the phone and see if you have a better connection, then you can rule out some possibilities. It could be just a bad bluetooth antenna in the tablet, I’m not sure if there are any external bluetooth dongles for tablets, but that might be another option to try.

Just tried the turning off then on of Bluetooth on the tablet which didn’t have any effect. Still drops out. Also tried running Zwift on my iPhone SE 2020 which worked fine. Interestingly, I also downloaded the Wahoo app for kicks and giggles to the tablet to see if this made a difference. It connected well without any hitches in that app, but Zwift still drops out every few seconds. So I suspect that the issue between my tablet and Zwift is possibly something software related.

Hi - I’m having the same issue with a Samsung A8 tablet after the latest update. Interestingly, I can do workouts using ERG mode, but I cannot do free-rides at all. When doing free-rides, it will connect for a few seconds and then lose connection. My Wahoo Kickr Core is up to date. I tried running Zwift on my Pixel phone, and everything works fine.

Interesting. Just tested this out as I have not yet done a workout using the tablet, and mine is behaving the same way. Workouts are perfectly fine and stay connected, free rides drop out and reconnect every 5-10 seconds. Further leads me to believe something software related is creating this, most likely on Zwift’s side since an update possibly broke something. We’ll see I guess…

Updated to the new game version and this issue still persists? Any idea what is going on?

Same issue here with Galaxy tablet. Factory reset the tablet. Installed again. Updated trainer. No joy. Tablet works fine with other Bluetooth connections. Please help zwift!

Is your tablet Galaxy Tab A8 or S6 Lite? Those models specifically do not work very well with Zwift, which isn’t a problem with their better models. The Bluetooth implementation on those cheap tablets is not the same.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your posts. This is Jose from Zwift support again.

I’ve looked into this further and confirmed that our team at ZHQ is aware of connection issues between some Samsung Galaxy A8 tablets and Wahoo Kickr Core trainers I found some support tickets reporting the same behavior. Our engineers are actively working with Wahoo to get it sorted.

It looks like this is a known issue affecting certain Android devices. In the meantime, feel free to reply here or reach out with any additional details. I’ll keep you posted with updates as they come.

Thanks again!

Did you get any joy with this? I’m having the same issues. Signal dropping every 5-10 seconds. Previously worked well with no issues on the A8.

Interestingly when I disconnect the resistance control in the pairing screen the Power source/cadence then remain connected with no drop outs. Just no resistance control when cycling!

Is there any update on this issue? I’m facing the same problem and my neck is starting to hurt from looking at my tiny phone screen.. I’ve spent 50 mins today troubleshooting and going through all the steps associated with possible bluetooth interference but as it works on my phone and other apps connect through bluetooth to the Kickr on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 (Wahoo f.ex.), my conclusion would be that there is still a connection issue with the Zwift software.

This is not a particularly good customer service for such a high membership price.

Does anyone have an update on this matter? I just joined Zwift and looking forward to using my tablet for this, but it drops out every 5 seconds!!
