Does anyone have an idea when the pre-orders will start again for the Jet-Black Victory? Even so, sounds like they won’t be making it to the door steps of US homes until late December and early January. Or should I just pay a little bit more for the Wahoo Kickr Smart Trainer, which seems very similar to the Victory? I’m just itching to start my zwifting on the zwift ride and virtual shifting.
I also just noticed the wahoo kickr smart trainer with the pre installed hub is sold out.
In honesty, Garmin just needs to hurry up so I can use my tacx neo with the zwift cog hub.
The Victory has a lot of features not available in the equivalently priced Wahoo trainer (Kickr Core). Since you already have an excellent trainer I would wait but it’s up to you and how badly you need virtual shifting.
I have a kickr 5, always worked perfect. I really wanted virtual shifting, so I upgraded to the kickr move (v6 on a mini rocker). Tried out for a month, I really don’t like the feeling of Virtual shifting. It’s horrible (in my opinion) I’ve gone back to mechanical shifting. It’s lovely.
Best part of the he V5, and V6 is direct connect, and race mode. If you have a good trainer, don’t switch for virtual shifting (unrealistic, harsh jumps between gears) JMO
The Wahoo Kickr V6 offers greater resistance and accuracy than the Victory, and squishy feet. The Kickr MOVE offers a lot more movement. The Kickr Core is more of an equivalently priced product compared to the Victory but falls far behind on features. Like the Kickr V6, the Victory offers WiFi connectivity and 10Hz “race mode” data transmission. The Victory also offers HRM pairing to the trainer so that’s nice for Apple TV users who have limited Bluetooth connectivity, and that’s not available with any Wahoo trainer today.
V6 has WiFi so you don’t need to get the DirectConnect adapter and attach it to Ethernet if you want to avoid Bluetooth/ANT+, and V6 supports virtual shifting with Zwift.
With 10 days left in October, you might want to hold out to see if Wahoo releases the V7 or consider waiting for the Victory. It’s probably best to avoid buying the V6. The Zwift and Wahoo partnership seems to be accelerating how quickly trainers become obsolete!
