Knew Kickr v7 coming up?

Wahoo is offering a “huge” discount for their smart trainer line (other than the Zwift core). Actually, the Kickr v6 at $999.99 is pretty much what I paid for a Kickr 2018 back in the day. Kickr v6 was released in September of 2022 -just thinking aloud

Kickr 6 released on: Sept 2022
Kickr 5 released on: Aug 2020
Kickr 2018 released on: July 2018

Now, I’m wondering what new features would bring!?!

Generally that’s the release pattern, so I’d expect to see one in September.

seems like they would have announced it at Eurobike if it was coming out soon… I didn’t see anything from Wahoo in @GPLama’s video?

Looking at past years, I don’t think wahoo normally releases their trainers at Eurobike.

There was an article saying Wahoo, Garmin etc dont announce at Eurobike these days as the news gets lost in the show. So they release either before to capture upcoming coverage or post show so they get their own news cycle.

Now, I’m wondering what new features would bring!?! Zero interest on the move because I am happy with the MP1 platform.

Obviously, virtual shifting, wifi,… what else?

Id like to see a built in ethernet port and Bluetooth bridging for things like HR and Zwift Play/Clicks.

My reliable companion, ChatGPT, agrees with you; according to AI, these should be the new features:

The Wahoo KICKR v7 is expected to maintain key features from the v6 model while potentially improving on them. These include:

  1. Wi-Fi Connectivity for faster, more stable data transmission.
  2. Improved Power Accuracy, potentially enhancing the current 1% accuracy standard.
  3. Enhanced Ride Feel via AXIS feet, which allow lateral movement for a more realistic cycling experience.
  4. Auto-Calibration, likely continuing to ensure precise measurements without user input.

Additionally, Bluetooth bridging will likely remain a core feature, allowing the trainer to act as a hub for multiple sensors and transmit data through Wi-Fi, reducing connectivity issues and simplifying data management(Zwift Insider)( Electric Bike Reviews, News, & Testing).

He thinks, the Wahoo KICKR V7 will follow the typical release cycle, which could place its launch around September 2024, given that past models (V6 in 2022 and V5 in 2020) were released in similar timeframes. However, there hasn’t been an official announcement confirming this yet.

I can’t decide whether to get a kickr 6 or wait for a potential v7 release.

I have a neo 1 I’m keen for a refresh.

I’m holding out for the release of the v7, provided my v5 continues to function. Every time I’ve purchased an item based on the attractive discount; I’ve regretted not having the new features for years. LOL

If the Neo works well I would probably wait to see how the market shapes up and reviews come in for the new products

I actually found the application with the FCC for a new KICKR device based on attached documentation and images, indicating that some version of the KICKR is about to arrive!

FCC ID PADWF154
7483549.pdf (fcc.report)
Date: (fcc.report)

I found the KICKR-V7 page on the Wahoo Fitness site

Release must be imminent. Anyone able to see what has changed?

Also, the KICKR V6 is sold out on Wahoo Fitness.

I was wondering the same thing!

Your ChatGPT is wrong though :). Weak intelligence. It’s already mid-October and nothing :).

In addition, the improvements are listed rather as old modifications with an additional improvement.

I would add to v7:

1.BT module as a hub - bridge for many devices.

  1. virtual runs but for everyone as there is BIKE wahoo (remote control from wahoo and not ZWIFT)

  2. drive without a belt (but from FCC photos rather not)

  3. better jumps sideways (but from FCC photos rather not)

Haha, had I not seen the FCC filing, I might have believed there was no Kickr upgrade! I wager the entire industry is scrambling to respond to the Victory smart trainer; whether it’s just a marketing fluke, or a permanent new player.

Indeed, seems the release of a new kickr V7 is missing the season sales september/october !!! If no release coming 2- 4 weeks, will not wait longuer and no doubt the Victory will be the best choice.

It looks like a finished product. I wonder if they were held back by some sudden change or if this is the normal production cycle.

The Kickr V6 has been in and out of stock for months, and now on peak season! It’s unlikely a company would let their core product run low at such a critical time unless they’re planning a new release. Most likely, there are production or supply chain issues at play, though the exact reasons may remain undisclosed.

While the JetBlack Victory presents itself as an economical alternative to the V7, Wahoo’s customer support weighs heavily in my decision. Past experiences with subpar support from Saris and Elite have taught me the importance of dependable service; without it, these trainers risk rapid obsolescence.

JetBlack Victory is not for me because it does not work with wahoo climb. I have been using climb for two years and riding without it is a strangely flat and boring ride for me. Secondly if I were to buy JetBlack Victory I would choose Kick core they are equal.
