Because I’ve searched far and wide and haven’t come across anyone with the same issue:
I purchased the Zwift ride about 6 months ago. About a month and a half ago I had my controllers replaced because the right buttons weren’t working. The z button was stuck and was giving incessant ride ons. I also couldn’t use powerups. I was sent new handlebars with controls, and I sent the other ones back.
Now, I’m having a similar issue. At first the light was red and purple but the controllers wouldn’t connect. Now they will connect but the light is still purple and the z button isn’t working–it’s not sending out ride ons when I press it, but will randomly send them when not pressed. The red button is continuously lit. I did update the firmware, but it didn’t fix the issue.
I wonder if this is from sweat… I am a heavy sweater, but I make sure to constantly wipe the controls as I’m riding and post-ride; there really is no solution to my sweating–it is what it is. The hardware shouldn’t be sensitive to water or moisture given what it’s designed for. I can’t think of any other cause.
Sweat ingress has been a documented problem with Zwift Play controllers. I would guess it might be a similar issue for the ride controllers unfortunately.
lol, yes, it does, but lately I’ve been much less generous with the ride ons. Now that I’m so awesome I’m blowing by people, and I feel like dropping a ride on is just rubbing it in their face.

Sorry, I’ve been out of town and haven’t been able to update the game. I have zrl on Tuesday and I’m concerned the issue won’t be fixed by then. I’ve read elsewhere that the issue can be caused by water ingress. There’s an entire Facebook group dedicated to this issue. My controller is literally lit up bright read, and nowhere is there any evidence that this is an update issue.
