Well ,
I first was excited that zwift devided the ventoux in segments like the alpe du zwift.
But apparently the Zwift Programmer ( who isnt a cyclist probarly) decided to just Devided 20/10 = 2km per segment voila ! done for the fridays work…
They could have done simular variabel segments like Alpe du Zwift. Really it seems so lazy…m akes me angry
Shame on you zwift u have money plenty to spill on the game instead of the sponsorships to tour du france !
But how would you suggest they do this? AdZ is easy, because each segment is between 2 of the infamous turns. Ventoux/Ven Top doesn’t have anything like this.
Overall I like the Ventoux sections, I guess my wish is that the Ventoux spinner would give a bit more XP than the Alpe spinner (since it’s longer), or new items for something new to chase.
But breaking it up into 10 equidistant sections seems fine to me. They could have done it per km as well, but I think they just want to model how it’s done for the climb portals (and the grade) in terms of arch logic.
Hi Sam,
Yikes. You could have asked why Ven-Top was subdivided into 10 equidistant sectors.
Have you ridden Elevation Evaluation in Watopia? You might recognize the segment board on Ven-Top is very similar to the one used on The Grade.
We used this approach rather than the AdZ approach because The Grade and Ven-Top are both climbs with a steady-ish gradient. On a climb like this, your power / HR stats from sector to sector will show if you’re able to maintain a steady-state effort, or if you’re sagging / surging as you approach the top
There could still be a more creative solution for this . Why not ad banners like in real events like one for 10Km , 5 km 2km last Km should be more motivating.
This is also true. There are two finish arches on that route for the full Ven-Top and the halfway route called Ven-10. There’s also a third event-only finish arch that ends at the Chalet Reynard at the base of the IRL Ventoux ski resort.
There’s also two ways to get to the Ven-Top road. The first is selecting Ven-Top (or Ven-10) from the Route Selector. The second way is choosing a route that leads to the Petit KOM, then making a left turn at the intersection that follows. Either way to the top will trigger the prize wheel.
We put a lot of time and effort into the Ven-Top improvements that may not be apparent to you @Sam_Devos. Feel free to ask questions - but check the toxic hostility at the door. I don’t appreciate you calling my coworkers “lazy.”
