Had a reply from a you tuber (influencer) This is the message i sent him"
Are you aware that there is a problem with Zwift companion not working properly on iPad. It’s been like this for over a month? The map won’t show when going to a world and the app crashes. Any chance you could do a bit of research on this and perhaps do a video about it to get Zwift to sort it out. There’s lots of frustrated people leaving messages on the Zwift forum about it.
His reply was
"if people are already hounding Zwift on their forums, then they’ll be well aware of it.

My recent IPAD Pro 11" updated to IOS 15 (v15.1) last night… then this morning I have the same issue as many others reported about the ZCA not connecting to the ride; It attempts to load the map… might not pass the grey loading screen but sometimes gets to show the map for a few seconds, but by the time the “ride on circle” is building up, it kicks out of the map screen before the circle is completed.
Then it stays on the home screen as if inactive.
Well described by S_ara_Lance_L.o.T
Before the IOS update all was working well and stable.
removing and re-installing ZCA does not fix it
Tested with another IPAD that is also on IOS15 but did not have ZCA prior, same issue
Tested with the main Zwift app running on 2 different computers (one wired, one on WIFI) same issue
ZCA still works OK on my Iphone still running IOS14; Also works well on my Andorid phone.
Really hope a solution is found soon, with my eyes, ZCA on a small phone screen is useless.
If memory serves, and I could be way off on this point, zwift hinted at a new UI release. If true, it seems reasonable to think that select bug fixes may be addressed in the new release. Not defending zwift, nor am I speculating with any confidence…just saying.
You may be correct, but there also doesn’t seem to be any definite timeframe for the release of this supposed new UI. Meanwhile, the ZCA has been broken for weeks. Unacceptable.
Almost like the influencer isn’t about to annoy the very thing that makes him money
Ouch
I’m really surprised this is taking so long to fix. It’s a month now.
I just installed on ATV RGT Cycling and the companion on my iPad. 14 day free trial. It feels like a mixture of zwift and Rouvy. I may switch to it until zwift fixes the problem. RGT worked perfectly by the way.
Come on zwift talk to us? It’s 11 days sense you respond the last time.
I upgraded my iphone to ios 15 and my ipad to the same. The iphone worked – the companion app – oddly enough. The map came up. The ipad? Still no.
Alas, It is now been about a month since I updated my IPAD to IOS 15 and lost the ability to effectively run the Zwift Companion application on it. As noted, app runs and opens, however it will not open the map while riding.
Like many posts, I can run the companion app on my updated iPhone, however, on a smaller screen, the user experience is diminished.
Would greatly appreciate clear expectations from zwift moderators on what user expectations should be on restoring functionality to this very common Zwift Companion Application platform.
Thanks

This whole mess has caused me to stop and reconsider the RGT Cycling app. I know it lacks Zwift’s membership, but will take a look. I have a real issue with the way Zwift is ghosting its users over what I consider to be a serious problem.
macOS 15.1 was released on October 25th **. The errors I’ve experienced started after the update for the Zwift, and Companion apps. It could be related, but one would hope that if is, a competent tester could have stumbled on the fact that the app fails most of the time to run, and completely fails opening up the current event map.
I still wonder if everyone is experiencing this problem, or just an unlucky few. Zwift is heavily popular, deservedly so, so I would imagine that there were a whole bunch of incredibly frustrated and ‘unhappy’ users. I was out almost the whole month of November, recovering from surgery, but had no issues, NO ISSUES, on rides between the 26th and the 28th. Point is: If it were 15.1, and it totally fails for me, wouldn’t it make sense that it would have happened then?
My sympathies to their programming staff, where ever they are, because if it’s taking this long to fix, either they can’t find the problem, they are on vacation, or Zwift is looking for new programmers.
** And I was bombed on narcotics, and do not remember if I actually updated my iPad before, or after that last gasp ride I did on the 27th. DOH!!!
Rob, fair and reasonable points.
Just to add to the confusion though is this. There may be a lot of users who never or rarely use the CA. So they are completely unaware of the issue, even though the problem would exist if they were to attempt to open the app. My partner for example is a casual Zwift rider and has never used the CA. A look at the Riders Nearby list on any given ride suggests quite a few may not be using the CA either so are blissfully unaware of its shortcomings.
There could also be a whole load more riders who have the problem and haven’t reported it or even searched the forums to check.
And of course, there will be some that just don’t care enough about the problem so carry on regardless without researching the problem and will wait for time and Zwift to repair it.
Good luck with the recovery

It’s all about prioritisation within the Zwift team. They have a choice on allocating tech time between new functionality and fixing bugs.
The problem started with 3.29 (or 15.1), however rather than prioritising this bug, they spent their time working on 3.30 which was all about the high profile launch of Neokyo. This bug remained un-prioritised and unaddressed.
Now Neokyo has launched, they will again be balancing dev team time to working on fixing priority bugs and chasing new functionality deadlines. Prioritisation is a regular activity in dev teams.
I would urge them to prioritise this bug, as effectively ZC on iPad is dead for now and is impacting lots of people. As a paying customer I would like the application to work and I want this fixed as a high priority, more so than any new functionality.
You are right. I posted to a local group on not updating to 15.1, and a friend of mine said he’s on 14 still, and Companion isn’t stable at all. He detailed a long list of things that he does to try to get it to run, going through each one if the previous one doesn’t work, so it’s potentially not just 15.1. (And I checked, all of my iPads are updated. What? I’ve been bored)
On the surgery, I could write an article on it. My surgeon told me to ‘keep riding’ and that I would have a better recovery if I did. But he didn’t realize how ‘well developed’ I was. I did Zwift Academy, and tons of other high output rides, only backing off a bit the last few days. He comes out, post, and tells my wife I will actually have a ‘harder recovery’ because I had such a ‘well developed musculature’. Um… Okay. He couldn’t tell before? Apparently there was a miscommunication there. I wasn’t riding a Peloton, with an unknown FTP. I had several PR’s in the month before surgery, and even increased my FTP. But, it hasn’t been totally bad. I’m probably ahead of others that have had this surgery, and am already walking and have ridden a few times, and now have to get back to building my endurance, so the Companion issue has been a buzzkill. Looks like more TrainerRoad for me for the next month or so. Heads down riding the numbers. I’ve lost a lot over the month+. ‘Life’…

Another white screen sufferer here, latest iOS on iphone, Zwift running on Windows PC OR ATV and same issue. Apple watch in use but not for HR / as device bridge. As soon as I enter a workout or race I get a whitescreen and none of measure above have helped to date.
I was told, repeatedly, t use the Companion app. That it provides the ‘missing link’ to make Zwift more capable. That if I was just using it to see the live map, I was not tapping the whole experience.
I can see not using it. It is not ‘required’, but having been urged to use it and now having it not working during a ride is such a bummer. It has clouded the whole experience. No maps, no Ride On showers, no ride photos, no messenger, most of the ‘Zwift Experience’ is gone. Most of the interactivity is gone. Sure, there are probably keyboard shortcuts for some of the features that the Companion app provides, but I can’t reach my keyboard, and at over $100 to replace it, don’t want to risk flooding one as my dripping hands fumble over it. sigh Hah, the wife said ‘first world problems’. Yeah, no kidding… If you can’t laugh…
I have noticed, over the years, that there are many that do not use the Companion. With them not prioritizing fixing it, is this a single that it’s going away? I hope it doesn’t end because, now hooked on it, it’s pretty damned useful. I miss it…
Ride on!
Hey everyone - Companion app v 3.30.1 for iOS fixes the white screen issue. It released a few minutes ago to the Apple App Store, and will begin propagating worldwide over the next few hours. Please update when it’s available to you.
Thanks for your patience.
