Heart rate monitor not connecting [November 2023]

This issue started for me 2 days ago. HRM displays 0 but works just fine in Wahoo app. Apart from being generally annoyed I’m concerned with ZRL soon approaching

I’m having the same issue.
My Polar dual bluetooth/ANT+ HRM connects with bluetooth directly to Zwift on Apple TV with no issues, but does not connect via Companion App (on Android) - actually it does connect, but reads ‘no signal’. I have tried ‘forgetting’ all bluetooth devices, closing all other apps, turning off bluetooth on all other devices, restarts, etc. with no success.

Similar issue here. I am using the Zwift Hub One as a bridge for HR. I can successfully connect the game to the hub for HR, however, it just reads 0. No issues with my HRM when I use my ipad.

Same issue with computer with ANT+ and Garmin HRM

I have the problem that I can’t connect my HRM (Garmin HRM Dual) to Zwift Hub.

I successfully connected my old Garmin HRM Dual to Zwift Hub in 2022 (Zwift Hub Firmware 3.x) via ANT+ using the Companion app.
In 2023 (october or november maybe) I had to replace my HRM and bought a new one (same model). When I tried to pair the new HRM to the Zwift Hub (Firmware 5.2.2) via Companion App, the HRM isn’t available, neither via ANT+ nor Bluetooth. The hub keeps on searching for minutes without finding the HRM.
It isn’t and never was connected to my smartphone via Bluetooth and I made sure that it wasn’t connected via ANT+ with another device (although that shouldn’t be a problem).

As a workaround, I paired the HRM with Zwift (on Windows 11) via Bluetooth for now.
The HRM is found via ANT+ by a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro and a Garmin Edge 830 and by Zwift on Windows 11, so I’m sure the problem is not the HRM.

PS: I just saw I described the problem earlier in this thread.(#6). Sorry for doubling…

I thought Bluetooth was required for that feature…? I haven’t used it personally since I don’t have a Hub.

No, it worked with ANT+ between HRM and Zwift Hub and re-broadcasted the HR via Bluetooth, I’m sure. See the Zwiftinsider Review (search for zwift-hub-review on zwiftinsider, I’m not allowed to post links) for details. “The Hub can pair to an ANT+ HRM and rebroadcast your heartrate through the Hub’s Bluetooth channel.” Below this text you can see screenshots of the Companion app showing how it worked, it looked similar with my HRM.

Replying to myself: After some more unsuccessful tries with my usual setup (Zwift Companion on Android) I tried a different approach today: I installed Zwift Companion on an iPad and tested if I could connect my HRM to the Zwift Hub. Literally within seconds after connecting ZC to the Zwift Hub and searching for HRM, it appeared as an Bluetooth and an ANT+ device. I connected the HRM and the Zwift Hub via ANT+ and it works like a charm (HR sent to Zwift app on Windows 11 via Bluetooth from the Zwift Hub).
So the problem seems to be not primarily with the Zwift Hub but with the ZC app on Android.

I am having this problem right now… I cant get my HRM to connect via bridge, I typically use Apple TV, but want to incorporate steering and HRM so trying ZC to fix issue. I can not connect my Garmin HRM through ZC, it says connected, enter world, immediately drops within 2 seconds. Enter bluetooth screen from inside world, it says HRM is connected, but the moment I enter the world again it drops. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @Julianne_Green_TYPHO thanks for posting in this thread.

Monitoring your heart rate is an important part of any training program. The steps below have worked for most Heart rate monitor pairing issues. I’d appreciate to give it a try.

  1. Pair all fitness devices except your Heart Rate Monitor at the initial pairing screen, then continue to the home screen
  2. Start your intended activity
  3. Once in-world, select Menu to pause, then choose Pair from the pause screen
    4. Pair your HRM from the Pause menu pairing screen

Ive done this… it adds the HRM and then when I get into the map it drops and says its not connected, but when I go into the bluetooth module, it’s connected.

This worked for me once. No more. Day after day. Heart rate is picked up on every other device I have. Maybe Garmin should have their own riding app. As many of these notes as I’ve seen, it seems to be a never-ending issue with Zwift.

I like Zwift. But this has gotten somewhat ridiculous. Is there another HRM that works better with Zwift

Thank you

Which HRM do you have and what are you running the game on, how are you pairing the HRM? Personally I have had zero problems with a Garmin HRM-DUAL but I also have a cheap Coospo arm band HW706 and that is just as reliable in terms of the connection. Unless your HRM is faulty the problem is probably somewhere else.

If anyone is trying to screen share Zwift with TV using a pixel 7 phone, HRM won’t work unless you go to reset options on phone and reset mobile network settings and reset Bluetooth and wifi.

I have exactly the same issue with a Garmin HRM and non of the above works. Seems to have become a problem after the last update. Thought at first it was battery, so swapped for a new but still nothing. Tested it on other devices and no problem. Shows as connected, but doesn’t pick it up. Disconnect during a ride and reconnect (even with all other devices switched off) and shows HRM, says connected, but does not connect! Disappointing to say the least assuming it is update related. Also - PR rider times not showing on rider board?

Any fix yet. Same issue. Not used app for a while everything worked great. Then logged in today did update and everything was crazy. Would not find Garimin pedals. sp chose kicker. then went back and it found garmin pedals. Everything slowly was found but HR everything I tried. HR is found on Garmin. My headwind finds if as it’s speed is controlled by HR. Yes tried finding it from inside the game trick. Nothing. I need my HR to work Pleae

Just been trying to get the new system up and going. Everything paired except my Polar H10 Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap - ANT + Bluetooth. Tried the solution and it still doesn’t connect. Any other ideas. I have also worn my garmin 745 watch and it didn’t connect either.

OK, I think I solved my problem. 2 issues really. First, when I tried my HR strap it was already connected to my Garmin 745 and it can only talk to one device at a time. Then, when I was just trying to use the Garmin 745 for HR, I found that I didn’t have the watch set up to broadcast the HR, so the Zwift app couldn’t find it. So, anyhow that seems to have fixed things for now. Still a lot of things to learn on this system. It’s not just get on it and ride like an old school trainer. Not sure it’s worth the effort or not yet.

Polar H10 has ANT+ and two BLE channels!?!

+1 for this problem from today.
ATV
Garmin Epix gen 2 broadcasts HRM to Companion app. Worked well for months. Suddenly no way of connecting hrm. HRM connects normally to everything else (eg wattbike) Work around suggested doesn’t work.

Is there really still no solution to this issue?
