Getting to the Starting Line

Newbie here. Maybe I’m missing something obvious. I’ve signed up for 2 races but can’t figure out how to actually get to the start line. I’ve had Both Apps open on my phone and I thought it would just transport me there. But nothing. When I refresh, the ZC app tells me the event has already started. What am I missing here?
Thanks

Hi @Devin_Walker and welcome to the forums!

There should be a “Join Now” button in the lower left side of the screen when you are on Zwift. Make sure you spawn into Watopia or the guest world first, then look for the button. I suggest starting up a little early so that you are paired with your trainer and ready to go at least 5 minutes before the start, and even more if you.plan to warm up first.

As @Mike_Rowe_PBR said, you need to be riding then you will see a “join now” button pop up about 30 min before the ride/race start.

Make sure your races don’t overlap. I accidentally did this yesterday. I wanted to join a 15:00 ride and kept getting transported to the 14:30 ride as a late join. I finally got in with one minute remaining. It was my mistake but it confuses Zwift when there’s two joins at the same time.

Thanks for the info. I will give that a shot.

ya they didn’t. They were several hours apart. I didn’t realize you had to actually be riding for it to give you the Join button.

I wish there were a simple way to go directly to the start line rather than spawn in a world and then transport to the start line. Sometimes I cut it really close and want to go straight to my race.

Agree. Shame you cant join an race/event with out entering a world first.

Don’t you guys warm-up?? LOL

I actually do, and was, but I didn’t realize you had to enter the Game. I’m about to try another race here shortly. Wish me luck…haha.

Good luck.

I was just being silly. LOL

For races yes. But I’m always running late for events or group workouts!

But yes it would be nice if you had the option to go straight to the starting pen.

What’s this “warm-up” you speak of? Are you truly Zwift Racing if you don’t just jump on with seconds to spare, only one arm in your jersey, knocking over your water bottle on the table beside your trainer and cold legs?

Honestly I try to warm up for at least 20 minutes. I feel my best if I have more like 30 minutes of easy spinning and like two hard 2 minutes pulls at 115-120% somewhere in there to wake up the legs. Not trying to kill myself but fully warmed, legs primed, and reminded of what a real effort is going to feel like.

Too often life happens and I am starting to spin with 1 minute to the gun.
