Gear indicator and 10Hz power

Hi,

Searched through the web but cannot seem to find an answer. I’m in the market for a smartbike and will probably go with either Wahoo Shift or Tacx Neo Bike Smart (gen 1) due to pricing.

There’s been some discussion regarding gear display and race mode on these bikes in Zwift. Could anyone who own either the Tacx or the Shift confirm whether gear is displayed in Zwift and if 10Hz power broadcasting is available? Especially the gear display in Zwift is important to me.

Any comments much appreciated!

I have a KICKR SHIFT.

Right now, there is no gear display in Zwift. You can pair a Wahoo head unit (ELEMNT, BOLT, ROAM) and it will show gear information. There is also a thread here about using an ESP32 display to get gear information, and even a mod to have a window you an overlay on Zwift to show gears.

Zwift can add it with an update, I’m sure.

I don’t think the 10Hz (race mode) is on the SHIFT.

I don’t think any Garmin/Tacx products support 10Hz transmission either.

Hi

The Neobike gen. 1 will show gears on Zwift as long as you don’t configure 3 rings in the front.
But the bike display is really great at showing your gears, so you’ll never want to see them onscreen anyway.
And no 10Hz mode on it.
That being said… unless you really want a very close relationship with Garmin support, you don’t want a Neobike… mine breaks every 3-6 months - I’m on number 7 or 8 :flushed:

Thank you for all the insights. Much appreciated!
