If we can add in the ability to create “laps” this new HUD will be great for unstructured interval training in free ride mode and tracking power metrics without needing to also use an external head unit.
You can determine someone’s weight from their power and w/kg values (I do that during a race to see if the rider off the front is a big watt monster or a light fluffy little climber and is therefore worth chasing or not) and some people, who may be self-conscious about their weight and using Zwift to help reduce it in the privacy of their own home, may find that disconcerting.
it’s nice of you to show empathy to people who may or may not be self conscious about their weight but i’m 100% sure you told me i need to eat more hamburgers or something along those lines not too long ago, making you probably the 5000th guy to tell me that
but there is a robust privacy policy and terms of service already in place for all of that which we all agree to by using the platform and nothing has changed there with the new HUD, as far as i’m aware
My thoughts on the new HUD.
Overall I like it when riding on flat roads and not near a segment banner. But when you get the dynamic elevation, the live segment position, average power up the grade, close the gap message etc it gets very busy in the middle of the screen.
Can we get options to move the elements around? And choose which ones we want displayed? I’d like to see the dynamic elevation get moved to the minimap, replacing the current gradient display. And I’d move the live segment position to the side, or have an option to dismiss it from the companion app.
Also looks like there’s a minor display bug with the gradient showing on the dynamic elevation. It seems to be set to show 2 figures, but up the grade was flicking rapidly between 10% and 10.0%.
The header for the zwifters nearby list looked a couple of pixels wider than the list below it. It doesn’t quite look right.
The steering icon doesn’t appear to be on the new HUD. Is there any way to toggle steering on and off now? I’d prefer something less cumbersome than going through the pairing screen.
Could the powerup be changed to a rectangular icon? It’s the only round element there and it stands out as having a different design than the rest of the elements.
The “ClimbPro” like feature would be nice if we can set some kind of minimum or … some type of % on when we want it to appear.
It shows up even on bumps in the road I wouldn’t even consider a climb.
Would be nice if that could be user-adjustable.
I do like it visually; but I also don’t care about things that are only 3% grades…
At least where I live, that’s about as flat as it gets.
Only real gripe I have about the customizable block is… I guess I hadn’t realized we’re going from 2 items to 4, and I already totally miss how big my power / HR was
It would be nice if we could have the ability to set it to just 2 items that are larger.
I genuinely don’t even want to imagine what this looks like on a mobile device.
It has to be completely illegible at that scale…
Again; I want to serious question whoever on earth is in charge of UX here, because they seem to forget this is supposed to be a GUI on things from screens the size of a wall, and also a literal cellphone.
Can we have the option to disable the 1) power zone distribution bar and 2) dynamic elevation display? I would rather see the pretty world graphics than have these two elements talking up screen space.
I just got the zwift ride and I’ve been struggling with it loosing connection and shifting not working. After restarting a few times the controls finally connect again, but now the update came in as well. And the virtual gear indicator is gone. Is that a “feature” of the new hud or just another issue with my zwift ride I wonder?
I haven’t gotten the update yet for AppleTV as seems from here it’s awaiting approval. .Seeing screenshots of the new HUD options, I’d really like an average w/kg option. Been on plenty of rides where say the stated w/k range is 1.8 - 2.0 and I’ve been well above that just staying the with the ride leader. Their usually response is , ‘well, I’m doing averaging x w/kg’ blah lblah
I 100% agree. The new data fields are way too small on mobile devices. IMO the new fields are not even that useful. I would very much prefer to set it back to the 2 larger items we had before.
