Game Update v1.73 [September 2024]

On surface it seems awesome BUT…

other riders can now snoop and observe my metrics. Wow! That’s bit of endorsed breach of privacy don’t you think…?

My number will remain private, so moving to MyWhoosh and IndieVelo until this is fixed.

Please make the dynamic elevation display user selectable, will very rarely need to see this.

Also would like all parts of the HUD to be able to be turned on or of as required, often only need one or two panels.

Only option now seems to be all or nothing.

As quite new Zwift user I slowly start to see and understand the frustration of people using the platform far longer than me. ZHQ don’t communicate with its user, although there was already a thread asking about ETA on HUD, where Zwift people were active. There wer questions regarding when it will come with zero response and we all saw that this topic was interesting for the community. The other aspect was the leak with the release date, which was also ignored, when community has asked. And yet again the issue with too much data on the center of the screen. People have already pointed this problem months ago and it got nothing from this feedback.

I genuinely wonder if ZHQ simply don’t care (because they must be testing these new feature) or if they don’t have enough capacity for more opened and long-living dialogue with its customers.

you allways see HR watts rpm, that not NEW lol zwifter @_Constant_Rider

Great so see the updated HUD options finally - awesome work.
But please can we now lose the “catchup to” banner - it just completely clutters the screen, even more than it already did.
It doesnt add any value to the game whatsover, never did tbh

The climb profile isn’t needed for most regular Zwifters. It dominates the new HUD & there should be an option to deselect it.

not sure what you mean here, other riders wont see your watts etc nothing has changed in that respect

Not really. This has always been possible on zwift and is and not really a breach of privacy it’s in the ToS.

Indievelo you can fanview other riders which i’m pretty sure shows similar data. Unsure on MW but suspect it’s probably similar.

Does anyone really care if other riders can spy on your data lol…none of us are Pro’s

thanks for the HUD update. i’ve been waiting for one for years

i spend probably 50% of my time on zwift staring at it, but i agree it doesnt need to be so big. no reason why it couldn’t be optional for those who don’t like it

Extremely underwhelmed by the HUD “update”, but more importantly: Have you added an option to DISABLE that “pop-out” partial-KOM-Profile section that jumps out into the middle of the screen? Do NOT want that. Please tell me you’ve at least been sensible enough to give that an On/Off option for users, right?!?!?
The switch to a semi-transparent look for the Left/Central sections of the HUD is nice, I do approve of that, however it would’ve been much better to give users and option of the colour or transparency level they want, seriously does anyone at Zwift understand the word “customizable”?
As for the ‘customizable’ fields in the left box, why on earth are things like TSS and Kj the things you’ve added when people have been crying out for YEARS for the Draft value, which we know is available in the data already!
The 2 big HUD changes I (and many people) were actually looking forward to were a proper fixed full route profile of the actual route you’re on (current mni map ‘random roads’ is awful) has been dropped, and looks like the ability to actually turn on/off each of the individual HUD areas (Left box, Centre box, Mini Map, Rider List, Segment data) which is what “customizable” means to most people was maybe not even something you ever actually planned to give - UTTER FAIL from Zwift, these are the kind of things a teenager could code in a day!!

Totally agree, but I would change the priority. The draft meter woud be the most important metric for all those racers out there who don’t have access to Sauce. Zwift doesn’t like an unfair playing field but that one metric makes a real difference.

Did update get rolled back for many? I had i yesterday but another update this am and now hud is old again.

Yes, rolled back for Windows. There’s a post from Shuji above.

I really doubt that. There were already discussions regarding the state of the Zwift‘s codebase, which could be the huge factor why the new features are the way they are. But I think the most important factor are still people with decision making power at Zwift.

Windows users - a new build of version 1.73.0 has begun its phased rollout.

is it still labelled as 1.73.0 or 1.73.1?

@Gordon_Rhino-Racing
Windows version is still 1.73.0 but build number is 134990 instead of 134871 for the other OS platforms.

I’m on MacOS in Europe and still don’t have an option to update to 1.73.
