Hi @Brian_Northrop_SOCO
Based on the response I got (and I supplied everything that was requested plus more), the “get you all sorted out” seems a very hollow promise. Hopefully you’ll have more positive experience, however, this thread (as well as other) suggests this will not be the case.
Below is what I additional stuff I wrote them as part of the request (and I got the form reply - very poor form and disappointing from Zwift)…
I did not alter the route in anyway (I did change bikes but have done
this mid route on previous badge routes and still been awarded a badge)
I was spawned in the correct lead in-area when I started the ride
I rode a bit further after the finish banner to ensure the distance
and route was met. I only stopped riding when it was clear Zwift was
directing me to complete a second lap
The ride saved successfully to both Zwift and Strava
At no time was my internet connection severed - Music was continuously
streaming during my ride (like all my other rides)
According to Strava, I successfully completed the “Four Horsemen
(Zwift Insider verified)” segment.

Link to uploaded Zwift Activity is 632128183058663232

Hi,
This happened to us all today. There were four of us in a meet up who completed the Four Horsemen and all of us have the Zwift insider verified segment on Strava but none of us achieved the badge.
Super infuriating. Surely there is something that zwift can do about this. I wanted the badge and the extra XP points as I would have levelled up.
HELP!
Hi @Daniela_Mollica_TBR
Sounds like you did all the right things (just like almost all, if not all of the other posters to this thread), yet Zwift appears to be unable or unwilling to help - their standard response appears to be
While I’d like to credit your account for the missing progress, I won’t be able to do so due to technical limitations. I know this isn’t what you were hoping to hear, and understand the frustration.
(that’s an extract from the email I received even after emailing them all the details they requested)
The sheer number of people experiencing this strongly suggests a technical issue on their side, however Zwift seem to expect us to ride the route again, in the hope it will resolve itself. Without a technical change, I do not see how that will make a difference: “the definition of madness is to do the same thing over and over, but expect a different result”
I hope you get a positive outcome, however based on recent experience, it seems you will be underwhelmed also
Yes, I have been very underwhelmed with their formulaic responses in the past but I’ll try again. I’m emailing them currently with the log from my computer…
SOOOOOOO frustrating, their customer service is disgusting.
I’ve got to admit this infuriates me. People with a technical background will know roughly how the backend works - for example these badges are stored against your member account in a database. They are just an entry in a table on a computer somewhere.
The whole point of databases it to be able to read and update them - there is absolutely no technical limitation in the technology they have chose the prevents them from manually updating route badges. Writing of a customer support tool to enable the support desk to do this is the sort of task you give the new programmer to get their head into the architecture - closed, low risk, useful, short.
The fact that they do not have such a tool is simply a matter of resource prioritisation - it is possible, they have chosen not to have it, and sod the customer.
Finally, more for amusement, here is an excerpt from an email I got on 6th June 2016 asking for some acheivements to be removed:
At the moment, we don’t yet have a tool to add or remove the achievements that you had mentioned. I actually have a few things to remove, as well, from when I was new and improperly set up. If you’d like, I’ll add you to our list of users who would like some of their achievements removed, if you can provide the specific ones that you would like to be taken off. I don’t have a time frame for when that will become a possibility, unfortunately.
I’m not defending the fact that Zwift won’t retrospectively grant these badges. But the actual awarding of the badge in the database is the simple bit, as you’ve described. The award of a badge depends on the rider completing the entire route and not making any manual turns etc. So they’d need a tool to check that for that too.
I’m not saying this can’t be done. Just that it doesn’t help to trivialise it and make it sound like it’s a simple “UPDATE badges SET fourhorseman= TRUE WHERE …” statement.
Otherwise you could have lots of people emailing support and asking for badges for things that they haven’t done.
Actually it is pretty simple. Check the rider’s uploaded ride on Strava. The Zwift Insider verified segment for the route should appear. If it’s there, the ride is valid and should be credited… Obviously this requires the user to have a Strava account (there is a free option). Checking the v ride for this segment would take about 60 seconds.
Other option would be to track the activity that is uploaded to Zwift itself.
Re: people claiming stuff they shouldn’t, seriously let those people claim - they clearly have bigger issues in their life if they want to cheat a computer game for a badge.
Spot on, I’m still baffled at why Zwift claim “technical limitations”.
I was chatting to my database developer wife about this and she burst out laughing when I showed her Zwift’s excuse. She said, “give me access to their database and I’ll have it done in 2 minutes. Turning on my PC will take 1 of those minutes” .
Perhaps my wife could get a job there as a “technical member experience consultant”
And all the rides are uploaded to Zwift itself so validating them is easy - they have the data and already have something that does the job (although it doesn’t work so well, or we wouldn’t be having this conversation). This sort of thing is junior programmer level again.
If they were remotely interested they’d have both simple tools in a week. It’s been at least four years.
Merci !
@xflintx Can we have an update on whether this problem has been fixed and whether we will be awarded our rightfully earned badges? Mine was the Uber Pretzel and I really really do not want to do that route again!
Same issue with Four Horsemen 2 weeks ago. Road whole route. Strava segments Zwift Insider verifieds all there. Yes i will torture myself today. I expect this from Rouvy but not Zwift. I will put in a ticket as i road the miles and lead in etc. It’s just a game but should be recorded accurately.
Hi all,
Had a friend who decided to to “risk” riding the 4 horsemen a second time to try and earn the badge (he rode it last week also)… Result was the same… Finished route but no badge. So this issue is definitely still outstanding.
Can I suggest people “vote up” the thread. It might get Zwift to actually do something. No guarantees but hopefully it will get some attention.
I’ll be interested to see if you get the badge today…Friend rode the 4 horsemen a few hours ago (his second attempt - badge failed to trigger last week) and got nothing again.
