It’s never worked correctly. I see one of my friends riding, I press on “Fan View”, nothing happens. I start a ride in every “world”, nothing happens when I press fan view. I make sure my phone & my MacBook Pro are on the same exact WiFi SSID, nothing happens when I press fan view. No use trying teleport either, it doesn’t work either.
This seems like rudimentary level functionality. Why can’t they make it work correctly after multiple years.
I should be able to press “fan view” & it works, automatically, without having to do a bunch of BS that also doesn’t work. I should be able to easily teleport to my friend’s location & ride with them. This is basic.
Pretty sure both those things work. I’ve used them both numerous times… in what way are they not working for you? Are you using them while already riding on Zwift?
Are you in the same world they are? I think you can only fan view or teleport if you’re in the same world. You say you’ve started a ride in every world, but do you mean EVERY world, or only the three on rotation that day? (If you look in the Companion app, it should tell you which world they are riding.) And if they are in a race (or perhaps any event), I don’t think you can teleport to them. I’m not sure about fan view.
Same with fan view. You have to be in the same world as the target rider one way or another.
One of my biggest annoyances in Zwift. That it is sometimes almost impossible to fanview a friend if they are racing in a world that is not the current open one.
Just make it so that we can always fanview someone, no matter what world they are in. If it is possible after some tricks or workd around it should also be possible with one press of a button.
You may be aware of this already, but for others who aren’t the easiest to work around to this usually is to create a meet-up event for yourself around the time of your friend’s event. As long as you invite one other person to the Meetup it will work. They do not have to actually participate in your Meetup.
thanks, I do know that one, but I think it should not be the solution to fanview. There is a fanview button in the ZCA, why not make it work for every world.
Yeah if you can actually make a meetup in the target world, but now there are three (?) worlds you can’t get into via meetup

Fair enough, it should be working for every world and work better than it does when you get there, as it has kind of wonky views and perspectives that it shows when it does work. But given that it hasn’t seen any advancement in many years…

Kind of like the meetup solution but you can also create your own custom workout - which can be anything. Then, whenever you want to go to a world that might not be open, start your custom workout. You can always select any world in a workout so you can go anywhere. Once your workout starts, just quit it and there you are.
