Yes, this is a very poor oversight by Zwift. My 12 year old would like to try Zwift, along with my wife, but we just can’t afford 3 seperate accounts. It’s crazy considering we can all go to the gym for the same price as one Zwift account.
Another request here for a family plan…
Getting separate accounts for wife and kids and paying $/80mo is prohibitive. Trying to share accounts is a mess, and doesn’t benefit anyone. I’d be happy to pay a bit extra to get everyone their own account, for the same amount of usage. Zwift is just missing out on revenue this way and we have a poorer user experience. C’mon Zwift it’s a no-brainer!
I don’t have anything novel to say, but I want to +1 this request. It would be such a benefit if we could just select a rider when logging in and compete against each other without paying $800/year for the privilege. I wouldn’t mind a bit higher charge, but obvious 4x is a non-starter.
Totally agree there should be a family plan or children under 16 are fee.
We already have 2 accounts and now 12 and 13 year old want to start.
Should be a plan put in place for a household. As per previous comments happy to pay more but not a full account for a child!
Circumstances and geographies vary, making comparisons tricky. Around here an Equinox gym membership is over $200/month for an individual, and adding a sub-account is another $150 per month or so for each additional member.
I just cant believe that there is still no family plan in 2025… Maybe i just have to check the other apps…
I moved from Zwift to Rouvy , won’t consider coming back until there is a family/joint subscription.
Interesting approach. Sprinters who do harder but shorter rides then play less than endurance riders who ride lighter but longer. So the cost is related to your riding style preference.
Surprised to see that just now there are 666 (Ooooo) comments and this hasn’t been implemented. I recall back when Zwift had youth accounts linked to the parent account. I thought it was a great idea. And i always give ride-ons when I see kids as it’s nicer to see them riding bikes than, idk, robbing banks, setting fire to their schools. It’s just a good way to have an opportunity for kids to do something positive. Especially when using Zwift, by the time a family has gotten multiple bikes, a smart trainer (or multiple to ride together) and paid a subscription it’s just godawful expensive. I don’t even have kids but I thoroughly approve kids and family accounts at affordable prices, particularly if they’re not used simultaneously due to a shared trainer.
both my wife and I have been zwift ubscribers for years, we have just now only gone and purchased a Zwift one trainer with play controllers (Wahoo kickr Core, zwift Cog and Controllers Bundle) as our son is now wanting to zwift over the winter. In my mind this is far healthier than being sat in front of a screen when the dark winter nights roll in playing games online with school friends. Just found out just now U16 accounts are no longer a thing available apart from those already setup. Absolutely need to get this fixed Zwift. The whole reason we went for the COG and controllers was to make the riding indoors more appealing to a 9 year old without the hassle of having to change cassettes everytime he goes to ride on the trainer. 2 x Adult subscriptions for 7 years and a trainer investment directly from zwift to allow our son to get started only to find the controllers and cog are pretty much useless to him now (if we were to elect setting up another platform such as myWhoosh). Re-introduce U16 accounts. Zwift has done loads for cycling globally towards the womens side of the sport, surely they can do this for the future riders of the sport / communities also.
Pay-per-distance is fair because you pay for server load. Zwift servers don’t use more CPU power if you push harder So from zwift perspective i think this would be a understandable business case. But I agree, that it could feel unfair from the customer perspective.
My kids still have a kids account (I created them when it was still possible), my wife stopped using zwift because of price. We only have a single trainer. Even Strava created family subscriptions for a very reasonal price. If Zwift created a full-year-family account for a good price (taking into account that summer usage is extremely low) I would think about it. Now I cancel my subscription in march and enable it in november.
