Family and Child Plan Request

I suspected that something was very problematic with their billing system. I assume this is also tied into reason you can’t buy gift cards that can be used toward membership.

However, it seems very strange that evidently the folks tasked with the billing system tech would be the same people tasked with game development.

I’m also interested because there are 3 of us who would like to ride the new zwift ride or run with the zwift runpod. 2 adults (ride + run) and one child (run).
The family plan is a must for us. What’s more, the competition offers

Running is free anyway, so if kiddo is only running, just create an account and let them go.

Oh, I didn’t know, I thought you needed a subscription to run too! Thank you !

Only need subscription for running to take advantage of all the features of the Wahoo Run treadmill. With your proposed setup you’ll be fine.

Yes, thank you a lot. I will just need to contact the support to create an account for her because she’s only 9, and you can not create an account under 16. But I saw on facebook it’s possible to sign a parent authorization

Unfortunately, Zwift have discontinued offering new U16 accounts (with parent authorization). If your child was signed up previously, they can reinstate the account but they will not create a new one.

Zwift. We would really appreciate allowing a household to have one Zwift account with multiple profiles. Similar to Netflix and nearly every other platform. More users help build this community. Allowing multiple profiles helps a family justify the monthly expense. Work with us here.

FWIW People have been requesting this since 2018.

What a bummer this is. I left Zwift over this matter years ago and almost 7 years later, it goes ignored. I’m an avid cyclist and my wife rides just enough to work into her triathlon-training but is otherwise not very into cycling. My daughter is getting more and more into it. I just bought a Zwift Ride + Kickr Core setup but $400 per year for my daughter and I and maybe $20 per month for 4 months for my wife (she hates trainers and only uses them if the weather says she must) for us all to share the same trainer seems crazy. I heard about Rouvy in all of these discussions and it sounds like something worth considering.

I know this isn’t a new topic but maybe it’s one to chew on a bit again? While I understand the business model Zwift uses in denying family members reduced (maybe free) Zwift memberships, I’m wondering if it’s mutually beneficial to allow perhaps one family member a reduced-price membership if one member already has a full-price membership? I’ve invested in the Zwift ride and a Zwift membership already and my wife would enjoy using the equipment as well. Seems like asking Zwift for a reduced or free membership for her wouldn’t be out of line? I, in fact, did this and Zwift support said perhaps put this in a forum discussion and see what others think (or continue to think). I got the impression if enough people said yes, please do it, we might get some movement in that direction. What do you think?

Never going to happen

This is effectively “blowing you off” so they can end the support ticket and move on…

Sorry, but this topic has been very popular for many, many years and Zwift has never acted on it.

Mike, I’d heard it had been a topic for a while (a long while) but I guess it was a case of “hope springs eternal” on my part.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to open a discussion about Zwift’s subscription pricing and whether the company should consider regional pricing adjustments or a family plan, similar to what Strava recently introduced.

1. Regional Pricing – A Fairer Model for Emerging Markets?

Strava recently introduced regional pricing for countries with weaker currencies. For example, in Colombia (South America), their annual subscription normally costs USD 79,99, but it was reduced to COP 129.900 (roughly USD 29 per year). That’s only 36% of the original cost, making it far more accessible while still ensuring revenue for Strava.

Zwift’s current monthly price is USD 19,99 + tax, which in my country translates to nearly USD 23 (COP 100.000). The economic gap makes a huge difference in affordability.

Wouldn’t it make sense for Zwift to follow a similar model and adjust pricing to match local economies? This could increase subscriptions in regions where cycling is growing but affordability is an issue, especially considering alternatives like MyWhoosh and indieVelo.

2. A Family Plan – Making Zwift More Accessible to Households

Strava also launched a Family Plan for 4 users at COP 79.000 each / per year (instead of COP 129.900 if they subscribed separately). 61% of the individual cost.

Right now, Zwift does not offer any family or multi-member subscription, which can be limiting for households where multiple people want to train.

Would a family plan or discounted bundle for multiple users be something the community would support?

3. Can Zwift Do Something About It?

I reached out to Zwift support, and while they didn’t confirm any plans for regional pricing or a family plan, they acknowledged the topic as worth discussing. They suggested bringing it up here in the forums to gauge community interest.

So, I’m curious:

:speech_balloon: Would you support regional pricing?

:speech_balloon: Would you be interested in a family plan?

:speech_balloon: Have you seen any alternative solutions from Zwift in different regions?

Let’s discuss! :man_biking::fire:

Zwift’s management has never seemed particularly competent. For a service many of its customers would only keep active for part of the year, it was obvious an annual plan would benefit the company. Set the annual price to a value where the part-timers enticed to pay annually more than offset the loss of the full timers who take advantage of it, i.e. more revenue with the side benefit of more users as former part-timers use the platform during bouts of bad weather during the in-season. Yet it took years and years for management to offer an annual subscription, and I doubt they actually did a proper analysis on the optimum price. Maybe in five or ten years management will finally figure out a family plan would benefit the company.

I agree there needs to be a family plan in the same household. My son is away the week at 6 form college and wants to ride WITH me on Zwift with his own programme. But am not going to buy the Zwift ride bike to go alongside my Tacx Neo if I ALSA have to fork out for TWO expensive monthly prescriptions

Netflix offers a more expensive family prescription. It makes good economic sense for Zwift. You can Geolocate us if you wish,… we are not going any where?:rofl::rofl::rofl::sweat_smile:

Zwift is losing revenue here. I would cheerfully pay a higher fee to allow all 4 members of my household to use my single trainer (I do this for Duolingo, Netflix, Spotify and some other apps)

I wont pay for 4 full price accounts though, even though I could afford it I refuse to be ripped off
