Good point. Didn’t look at it that way. I’d be racing more and imagine I’m a D cat rider. But never considered that if I did get into Cat C then she would be forced into that too.
For the here and now, she did one ride as a test so I could watch (chain had fallen off a couple of times on the Kickr Core last week as we get used to setting it up) and she actually enjoyed it more than she thought she would.
I just ordered a smart trainer for the family to share and was surprised to find that Zwift lacks a family plan. But thanks to this thread, I’ve found a ton of great info about all the other Zwift competitors I should check out! Thanks Zwift forum! /s
We will be using Rouvy as well. The family sharing feature itself made us switch. Good thing the market for bike training apps are getting more competitive. Unlocking bikes and wheels by levelling up isn’t enough for me to stay on Zwift.
Sad that after so many years of requests Zwift has not seen fit to implement SOMETHING! I guess my young adult son will have to use my trainer on RGT or Rouvy!
Kids 5-15 are eligible for a free account. (I agree that a family plan would be great, I’m not telling you that you shouldn’t go to what fits your needs. But 5-15 is free.)
EDIT: just saw the word ‘adult’ in your post, so this actually doesn’t apply to you directly, lol. Misread that. But others might be interested.
Does Zwift have an option for a “family plan” with more than 1 profile? If not, how many people have to request it to make it happen. I’d gladly pay $5-$8 more for another profile, but I’m not paying double as we simply don’t use it enough
Well, this request has 923 votes over several years, so…I’d guess the answer a heck of a lot of people, with evidence given that Zwift would actually make more money that way.
So maybe Zwift could just throw us a bone with a slightly higher free km/mo amount? My husband hates biking, but when we work out together occasionally I want the treadmill so he’s banished to the bike. Definitely not enough for him to pay for his own account…maybe 20km per week, at the most. Zwift, of you could offer maybe 80-100km per month? Like the people that are paying are doing far more distance than that aren’t they?
I think that if they will increase the free kilometers pro month that they will receive a lot of zwifters. I see a lot of riders from rouvy. Because there ara a lot of people that moved to rouvy because their partner wants to ride too, but not that much.
But I don’t expect that there will be any change in the plans from zwift.
I’d really love a family plan, even if it was slightly more expensive. Maybe $20/month for 3 users?
First off, my wife and I would ride more often if this type of payment option was available. We would be paying $30 a month for 2 subscriptions (one for the each of us) which would be more than all of my streaming content services combined (Spotify, HBO, Netflix, Hulu, etc). Seems pretty outrageous.
Most other subscription services offer family plan pricing. Seems like there is plenty of demand for this feature given this forum post alone. It’s 2023, what are you waiting for?
Lastly, I am canceling my subscription because without a family pricing model Zwift doesn’t meet my family’s needs and is NOT worth the premium. Its pretty frustrating to be unable to switch accounts in my house. I only have one smart trainer and wouldn’t even be riding at the same time as other users in my subscription. Seems like one subscription should cover each of use taking turns riding. Very frustrating considering how much I pay to use this service. Also, I would assume having more users per household would be a good thing?
Yeah, I guess, if they don´t present a famlily plan soon, I switch over to Rouvy as well. My wife just started to like the cycling at home and want her own identity and stats. And I don´t pay double of the price for an already too expensive app, in comparison to the delivered service and feature spectrum.
Let´s support other providers, which are not as greedy.
Ah yes Rouvy, the app that has barely evolved in the 12 years since I first tried it. A family plan for Zwift would be great but I look at the Rouvy family plan as a discounted price for an inferior app. There’s nothing wrong with using price as the driving factor in your decision but I wouldn’t call Zwift too expensive.
