It is about <16 having no income, isn’t it?
What is going on with you? Everyone has got a smart trainer, costs more than Zwift for some years…
It is a sad world for an old man like me.
Very funny. You say that if I have the money to pay a smart trainer, I can pay for both me and my wife? But how does a child without income has a trainer? If the trainer is from his parents, why can’t they pay for their own and for their children? what you say makes no sense.
Please stop the personal attacks.
Zwift can structure the price like they feel fit. If you don’t think the price is worth paying then don’t pay and use one of the many other products that you think is better value.
In my opinion the best option would be to pay per trainer, not user. But it is a decision of Zwift, I have to accept or leave.
I don’t know where you live, but the price for one month Zwift here is equal to three pints beer in a pub - is it really too much?
But I do not understand the people saying “why should I pay for someone else”, especially when they are talking about children riding for free.
Zwift is equal to 3 pints? Glad I gave up going to the pub, would have been 6 of Dublins finest black gold back in the day!
U16/Child accounts are loss leaders, so can be thought of as being part of the marketing budget.
Pay per Trainer, I want to see the Shane Miller video if that even gets close to happening, might learn some new swear words!
Pay for someone else, well you are if the 2nd adult is at a discounted price and they have swapped their full price account for it, if they are a new customer who wouldn’t have joined at full price then no you’re not subsidising them.
Family plan, U16s are free anyway.
The current system is simple to admin, adding complexity adds overhead, the only reason Zwift would introduce discounts for 2nd adults is if the revenue loss and increased overheads were offset by it bringing in new accounts, more money and therefore worth it. The Finance and marketing teams will have modelled this to see if the benefits are worth it.
Also why assume it will not affect the single user price?
I easily ride 26 days a month on Zwift, so 50p a day for me at 12.99 a month, grab value that way and get fit doing so .
Most couples simply use the same account to save paying for two. My wife goes zwifting on my account and sometimes just doesn’t save her ride. I don’t mind because it allows us both to keep fit. But if there was a family plan, I would likely pay for it, and therefore zwift get more money out of us, and probably many other families.
Zwift claim that couples should each have should accounts. A family plan doesn’t have to contradict this, it’s just a different way to pay for multiple accounts… Or possible profiles within an account similar to the way Netflix operate.
Infact it’s also a way to encourage the existent of more paid accounts. There is no way my wife would pay for an account of her own, she isn’t motivated enough and doesn’t ride enough. A family account would give her better value for the 1-2 rides at most she might do.
So what you are asking for , as many others here , is a tiered access account rating system for users who perhaps dont use Zwift that much ? Limited to X hours/distance per month or better perhaps purely on demand , pay per use , for example .
I like others , just dont see why this is being framed in the context of family. There are I am pretty confident more users not in a family that I am sure dont use Zwift every day or less frequent intensity and would welcome such a pricing model around an ondemand charge perhaps , likewise there are “wifes” who probably want to use it as a fully paid up subscriber in there own right .
On that basis I suggest Family Plan is an inappropriate solution to the problem being surfaced.
Alan. Your example of club memberships ignores that the cheaper race fees usually come after having paid for an initial club membership, ditto with the BCF discounts. That is, you’ve paid an up front cost for the option of reduced costs later.
So not really a good examples. Unless you’re suggesting Zwift should do similar and have a choice of membership: an annual base cost + cheaper per active month or just higher per active month. That would be a fun debate.
However, in the meantime, Zwift currently has a simple per month system. So why then in that system, should a couple pay less just for being a couple?.
Hi Mark. The fees are pretty minimal compared to the savings in both cases but let’s not get too bogged down with that. I am not only talking about cost alone it’s more not wanting to reduce the quality of my training sources to be able to socially interact with my wife and friends rides. I still use Tacx advance 4 as it is the only software that accurately runs my Tacx genius. It allows velodrome racing and many video races inc iron man Hawaii etc also full training programs. Cost?? Free. Zwift is brilliant for interacting and comparing times with friends but is much more limited and not as realistic. This is the basis on which I would only compromise on a joint fee but paying full twice for one rider to just ride London twice a week and another to ride 3-4 times a week, and both not using the training sections does not makes sense. One option is tiered payments depending on ride only then ride plus training.
The new Tacx desktop app is more limited than advance 4 and is £9.99 a month. Until it improves I am not using that either. Cost is only one issue. It’s what you get for the fees that matters. Hope this clarifies things
Then it is clear you found something that satisfy your needs.
I do agree with you until BMC does not drop the price of the Roadmachine I will ride my Giant and I will love it.
I’ve been using Zwift for a while, & my wife wanted to have a go.
She used the free trial, & would continue but…
She’s not likley to use it frequently enough to double the costs, and without the option of a family account, the reality it, she just stopped.
She can try Rouvy. If she likes that, Rouvy has a family plan.
It would be great if Zwift would launch a family plan for multiple family Zwifting homes.
I have 2 boys, 7 and 10yo and they absolutely love Zwift. Each time they ride I have to change rider’s hight and weight accordingly, but I discard their rides. That’s ok with me for now, but does Zwift really expect me to pay 15 euros each per month?! Isn’t it rediculous?
You do know they can get FREE Zwift accounts at that age. Kids 16 and under are free.
@Alexander_Vikulin As Paul mentioned, you can set up both children with their own accounts for free! You just need to visit The at Home Cycling & Running Virtual Training App and submit a consent form for each child. If you have any further questions about accounts for kids, our awesome Support team can help get you sorted once you get those forms in
I wonder if zwift we ever create a family plan, especially when most people only have the one indoor bike, turbo trainer etc, its not like two people will be using the account at the same time.
Rouvy seem to have it spot on for families, under £10 a month and up to 3 people can use the account.
Come on Zwift do us a deal £16 a month sounds fair…
Read the thread ,
They (correctly in many peoples opinion) do not intend to offer this , they support family’s in that under 16 subscriptions are Free.
I was only agreeing with what Gareth_lock said
I was going to point out all the details and blabber on but I’ll let you read the above and keep it forum friendly

Which peak is that in your profile picture though ?
Definitely needed when family members share the same trainer - obviously cannot both zwift at the same time.
Zwift needs to do the “right thing” and create a family plan.
