Hi, I am using Zwift on my wahoo kickr since many years and I never had problems. Today it happened that the ERG mode was not working. After checking all the devices etc. I discovered that the “Resistance” mode was not paired, the cadence and power mode on the other hand were both paired correctly. I tried to restart my Mac, to update the firmware of the wahoo but the resistance, and also my hearth rate monitor, can still not be paired. Any suggestions to solve this problem? Many thanks in advance for your help
Hi @Philipp_Costa, welcome to the forums! This is Monica, from Zwift. I’m sorry to read that you’re having ERG MODE issues between Zwift and your Wahoo Kickr V5. I appreciate your commitment in trying all the necesary steps to solve this issue.
After checking your account, I was able to see that you have a Wahoo Kickr V5 so here’s a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps for Wahoo KICKR v5 ERG mode issues:
- Check for Updates:
- Make sure your KICKR v5 firmware and the Wahoo Fitness app are up to date: After checkinng your account, I was able to see that your trainer is outdated, check this article to update your trainer’s version.
- Check for updates within the Wahoo app and on the Wahoo website.
- Connect to the Wahoo App:
- Ensure the KICKR v5 is connected to the Zwift app.
- Close all other cycling apps and only open the Zwift app.
- Power Cycle the Trainer:
- Unplug the KICKR v5 from the power outlet and wait a few seconds before plugging it back in.
- Perform a Spin-Down Calibration:
- Follow the instructions in the Wahoo Fitness app to perform a factory spindown.
- You can find this option under the “Devices” tab in the Wahoo app.
- Verify ERG Mode Functionality with the manufacturers App:
- This can help determine if the problem lies with the Wahoo app or the trainer itself.
- Check Trainer Connections:
- Ensure the trainer is properly connected to the power outlet and that the ANT+ or Bluetooth connection is stable.
- Try connecting via Bluetooth instead of ANT+ if you are having issues.
- Check ERG Mode Settings:
- Ensure that ERG mode is selected and that the control icons are green (on) rather than white (off).
- Make sure that 4DP (4-Dimension Power) is not set too low.
- Consider Other Factors:
- Communication Interference:
Ensure there are no other devices interfering with the trainer’s connection because after reviewing your account, I was able to see that you are having BLE disconnection issues.
- Low Cadence Issues:
If you are having trouble meeting power targets at low cadences, try shifting to a larger chainring.
- Locked Mode:
If you are having issues with grade or tilt simulation on a KICKR BIKE, make sure it is not in locked mode.
- Contact Wahoo Support:
- If you have tried all of the above steps and the issue persists, contact Wahoo Fitness support for further assistance.
